Rashad Jeanty Cincy LB (1 Viewer)

worthless slb is all you need to know
I need more observation than this. All I know of him this far since I have not watched Cincy play yet this season is Jeanty is sitting at LB 25 in my league this season. He has 17 tackles, 6 assisted, 1 forced fumble, and 1 pass defended. He is not some 30 year old back up at this point with a descent 3 game run. He is 25 years old and appears to be starting and putting up some ok numbers. Anymore insight?

I can't answer based on his play in the NFL, but prior to joining the Bengals he did play in the CFL. I saw him play quite a bit and was impressed with his sideline to sideline pursuit speed and his nose for the ball. I thought he was a bit undersized for the NFL ( 6'2" , 245 lbs.) , but he seems to be playing alright in Cincy.

Two things are helping Jeanty right now. First, the Bengals have seen all kinds of tackle opportunity, the majority of it on rushing downs. Second, frequent dings to Darryl Blackstock are helping him stay on the field for the bulk of the base defensive snaps.

Jeanty is a very good SLB, but he'll never be a force in the NFL. The Bengals see him as a run stuffer on base defensive downs. They had once seen him as a pass rusher as well, but that's no longer the case. He'll have good games when the Bengal defense faces plenty of offensive snaps and rush attempts and poor games when they're in a lot of nickel. With expected improvement at safety and WLB, Jeanty isn't likely to be a big tackle guy as the season progresses.

As always thanks Jene greatly appreciated!

He's impressed Marv and linebackers coach Jeff FitzGerald on and off the field.

Despite suffering a partial tear of the plantar fasciitis, Jeanty has started every game at outside linebacker and has played better than ever.

"He doesn't want to miss a down," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "He doesn't want to give his spot up to somebody else and not be able to get it back, so he fights to stay out there."

For that attitude, as well as the difficult circumstances Jeanty overcame simply to reach the NFL, his teammates recently voted him the Bengals' recipient of the

Ed Block Courage Award, which recognizes one player on each team who exemplifies courage and sportsmanship.

FitzGerald bluntly described Jeanty as "a liability" in pass coverage at the start of the season. By last Sunday, Jeanty had improved so much that the coaches left him on the field to cover Indianapolis' athletic tight ends, even after he aggravated the foot injury.

"That position belongs to him. He has earned it," FitzGerald said. "His progress this season has been outstanding."
