Rashard Mendenhall RB (Worthless at this pooint?) (1 Viewer)

So guys I think I should take the prize home for the dumbest dynasty owner of all time.

Last week I traded Beanie Wells, Eric Decker, 2012 2nd, and 2013 1st for Mendenhall and Andre Roberts. I think its safe to say that Mendenhall is worthless now. I mean he has a shoddy offensive line. Mendy isn't real explosive. And even when he comes back from injury. Redman will probably split or get more carries then Mendenhall. As a dynasty owner of Mendenhall this really bums me out. :(

I'm not sure what the purpose of your post is other than to whine. Mendenhall may or may not miss time with a hamstring injury, but if he does and then comes back, I do not think Redman will get more carries than him or that it will be a split. The line is the problem, not Mendenhall.

I suggest that you start drinking if you havent already, at least you will be able to sleep tonight after that deal.

Good point Ladsud. Yeah I was reading here on Football Guys staff section. Now was the time to unload Beanie Wells. So I gave up some stuff to get Mendy. Bad idea apparently.

Wow, that isn't buying low.
:goodposting:Exactly.Hard to determine which is worse:1) Severely overpaying for your 'buy low'2) Making a knee jerk reaction in a dynasty format - going all in on a player and then giving up on him after one week3) Blaming the recommendation of a fantasy football writer for your decisionStep back from the ledge Moses. Don't compound one mistake by making another. Mendy's offensive line is a joke and yes, he's off to an awful start... but as long as his injury isn't of the longterm variety, the Steelers have a relatively favorable schedule, he played behind a similarly poor offensive line last season and Redman shouldn't pose a serious threat to his carries.

Yeah I guess I need to be careful who I listen to now. Oops. Oh well. I will be 4 and 0 after Monday. So its not like I depend on Mendy.

Mendy will be fine, and dynasty wise Id be less concerned than redraft for him. Beanie will have Ryan Williams if not someone else coming back next year.

Either way, you gave up way too much. I dont even know why you would want to get rid of Decker for Roberts. The rest of the pieces shouldve been enough.

Your optimism for underperforming running backs is incessant. Is the o-line good? No, they're pretty damn bad but a 3.0 ypc average is appalling. If this injury keeps him out next week, I think there's a decent chance he doesn't get his featured role back from Redman. The only hope he has is that Redman would be going up against a really good run defense in Tennessee.

Yeah, the OL is abhorrent but I would feel better having the Steelers franchise back with Ben at QB then the Cardinals franchise back with Kolb at QB that is 1yr younger. The PIT OL was bad going into the year, now there are I believe 4 guys out since the start of camp, 2-3 of which are out for the year, from the already bad OL. The OL since '06 has been bad annually, but this year its at an all time worst. It probably wont be much better than average for Roethlisberger time as the QB, but average is light years better than the current line.As a PIT homer, 1 thing I can say is that for whatever reason, Redman and Moore have gotten holes much more consistently than Mendenhall. Part of this undoubtedly stems from utilizing the H-back/FB David Johnson on at least 1 drive today after Mendenhall got hurt, and he wasnt in there much if at all when Mendy was in there. This goes on the OC Arians though, not the backs. I think with increased carries if Mendy is out next week, Redman looks average. On the other hand, Mendenhall does have a tendency to be too patient, and with a line like this, you cant do that. That said, I loved Mendy since his Illini days, hate Arians as our OC, and also said the OP gave up far too much for Mendy.I'll see you in future RB threads Shnikies :D

Not so sure about that. Redman looked pretty good with the touches he got. Looked like the same O-line to me.

Didn't he tear it up last year when Ben was out? Not suggesting that it's better for Mendy owners if Ben sits, but ... if the hammy isn't a big issue, next week may be his heaviest workloaad yet. Titans playing decent enough defense, but a healthy Mendy should be leaned on a bit more, one would think. Doesn't necessarily mean NUMBERS, but he will get plenty of touches.

Step 1) Trade Beanie Wells and some stuff for Mendenhall. Consider this "buying low" for some reason.

Step 2) Stop eating chalk for 10 minutes to make whiny thread calling Mendenhall worthless.

Step 3) Eat more chalk.

So do people think Mendenhalls back after yesterday and his performance against the Cardinals? I mean this guy is so inconsistant. But I find it hard to fault him if the O Line is being inconsistant. And I think the Cardinals were so bad in the secondary that Big Ben just threw cause that was open all day. What you guys think?

Big Ben completed 26 passes, the most since week 10 of last year for him. He was throwing the ball all day.

Mendy only had 13 carries, I believe 16 RBs had more carries yesterday (out of 24 teams). I'd give him a bit of a break on this one.

AZ's run defense isn't bad at all. Their pass defense is atrocious. Doesn't surprise me that PIT attacked via the air. When you can complete a 95-yard TD to Wallace, why run Mendenhall?Much of Mendenhall's value is going to be tied to TDs. He still should have plenty of chances to score in weeks coming.....PIT's schedule is pretty easy. He still should be a decent RB2.

So what really was the deal yesterday? I have Mendy in one league, and lost b/c of him. Next week I plan on starting Pierre thomas over him.

I wouldnt bench Mendy going against NE's crap defense. Im guessing it will be a shootout, but Mendy should have the most room to run he's had all year. That said, Id still find a way to get Pierre in my lineup going against STL
