curious as to who your 1st few picks were...as it stands its not looking like its gonna be too good of a year for ya. gonna be desperate for some power. id look to move ellsbury and ryan for an upgrade at 1st if you can.

Remember it's a keeper (8 keepers - bolded) league, so there was a lot of good talent kept. My first picks were Vazquez, Nolasco and Jenks. There really wasn't any power out there.Only thing I really like about my team is that my offense is really young, which could hurt this year, but these guys could be really solid for years to come.

you could be in a good spot to land some power as the year goes on.

if figgins is healthy and running try to get top $ for him while you can...

5x5 non-roto might be my least favorite format ever. Moving on...I think you definitely have speed covered. I think Ellsbury's upside is 60+. Span and Young are probably battling for the same spot. They are pretty much interchangeable. I like Young more, but Span might see more time. Not sure.

I'm sold on Slowey being a stud. He never walks anyone, and his numbers in the minors suggest he's got serious skills. (Not homer talk, I really wasn't buying into the hype on this guy until now.) I also like Nolasco and think the Marlins are going to be a much improved team this year. Pity about Lindstrom.

Oswalt is probably falling apart. I can't stand him. He's exactly the kind of pitcher you should look to deal. Duchscherer may have serious problems lurking. Keep an eye on that one. Never liked Lilly, but he seems to find a way to stay afloat and strike guys out. Vazquez hasn't excited me since his days as an Expo. I think the move to Atlanta is completely overblown. He could strikeout 200 guys and have a 6 ERA for all I know. I'll guess something like 14 wins and a 4.2 ERA as a best case which isn't horrible given his K-rate.

Relief looks like a strength, sorta. Jenks is a fat slob that is waiting for someone to take his place. His K numbers are declining alarmingly fast. I like Capps and Bell, more the former. Saito is probably next in line if Papelbon dies. Good idea there.

Some nice guys in the minors, but will Wood ever hit? I'm doubting it. He has huge power but no ability to get on base. The ship may already have sailed, S.

I love Martin. Great hitter. Love the extra steals.

I'm also on board with Votto. Should be huge for years. Pence will get things turned around. He'll be a fine player.

Blalock is garbage. I think you're stuck with him as no one will want him. Who knows.

Definitely wary of Aviles. I hate guys that come out of nowhere to post monster numbers for a part of the season. I see huge regression here.

I hope for your sake that Quentin is healthy. If so, he'll be great in that lineup. Wrists are weird injuries, though. I haven't been a buyer of Quentin, but I wouldn't rip him either. Could be serious value. You'll need him to be good since you have little power.

I'll assume the DL guys are there for the hell of it/shtick/etc.

You need power help badly. I also think you could make some moves to improve your starters since some of those names have more perceived value. You probably won't compete this year with this lineup, but could make some savvy changes through trades and pickups.

Glllll peace.

yeah, i grabbed them both to see how they played out. I definitely have too much speed in the OF IMO. We'll see what happens.I'm sold on Slowey being a stud. Given the fact that like 30 SP were kept, I actually don't mind my SPs. But I will be monitoring them closely. I can stash Duchscherer on the DL if he's there when the season begins, and I got him in the 2nd to last round, so little risk there. Agree with you about Vazquez.

Yeah, I've had Wood on my farm team forever, just haven't gotten rid of him. I will likely do this when I figure out who to pick up.

Meh, I can cut him. I primarily got him b/c he qualifies at 1b & 3B. Hopefully he won't have to see the lineup.

Definitely wary of Aviles. I hate guys that come out of nowhere to post monster numbers for a part of the season. I see huge regression here.

gotcha

me too brother

I'll assume the DL guys are there for the hell of it/shtick/etc

we can keep 3 guys on the DL, so all these guys have some upside IMO

Thx GB. 6 teams make the playoffs, and lots of trades happen in my league, so I should be positioned well in the future.

Glllll peace.

The only guy I didn't mention was Bay who I was huge on last season when everyone left him for dead. He's much more valuable on the Sox, but I doubt I'd ever get him in a draft because I think he's being overrated again. Regardless, he's a very reliable hitter and a great cornerstone to your offense.

this team stinks. Sorry to be so blunt, but it really cant compete this year.

I like your pitching actually, as I think Vasquez and Nolasco will be great value in 5x5 leagues. But it seems like you picked Vasquez pretty high so not sure you captured said value. That offense is going to really struggle though in a AL/NL 5x5 I would think. Best chance is you parlay some of your bench speed quickly for a real power hitter.
