The Baltimore Ravens' charter flight made an emergency landing at Pittsburgh International Airport this morning to rush a player to a local hospital.
Backup cornerback Corey Ivy suffered a kidney tear during a hit in a loss to the Broncos in Denver during "Monday Night Football," according to team spokesman Chad Steele.
"He went back and played, but started to have symptoms on the trip home," Steele said.
Ivy, 28, was removed from the Delta flight about 20 minutes after the unscheduled, 4:04 a.m. landing, and taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Oakland, said airport spokeswoman JoAnn Jenny.
Steele said he had not gotten any word on Ivy's condition.
"Team physician Andy Tucker is with him and we hope to know more information later today," Steele said.
The rest of the team continued on to Baltimore.
Ivy, an eighth-year player out of Oklahoma, was signed by the Ravens as a backup in March after spending time on the practice squads of several teams and starting several games for the St. Louis Rams last year.
He recorded one tackle during last night's 13-3 loss to the Broncos.
