Ravens make some big cuts (1 Viewer)

Heap to AZ would make too much sense.
I was just thinking the same thing. Of course, it would turn into another case of the Cards signing a guy past their prime, but at least we would have a semi-legit threat at the TE position.
Yup, he has a house in Las Sendas in Mesa. He could play a few more years and then settle into retirement at home with all his family nearby.

Interesting also that Jason Laconfora today hinted that Leron Mcclain would also not be signed by the Ravens

This forced me to end the Martellus Bennett experiment and pick up Pitta. His hands are excellent. Though his stats were negligible in his rookie season, I do recall a seeing a couple of plays where Flacco tried hitting him on relatively deep routes. Gun to my head I probably take Dickson over Pitta, but Dickson owners would be wise not to get caught sleeping on Pitta - complacency is risky business.

I agree

Pitta did have one more concussion (2) than receptions (1) last year.

The Ravens hope to bring back free agent Derrick Mason at a lower salary after his release becomes official Thursday.Same goes for Todd Heap. "The Ravens want to get that done," confirms Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times. Mason's role would still seem certain to diminish following the additions of rookie Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss in the draft. It also remains to be seen if he'll want to return as a possible backup.
I'd be stunned if Mason wasn't a Raven this year (unless he decides to retire). Likely Heap will return too, but they may have a little competition there.

Forgot where I saw it, but I read somewhere that Mason and Heap are expected to re-sign with the Ravens and the process of releasing them was basically to free up some cap space.

Regarding Mason, don't you guys see the handwriting on the wall? They already have a deal all set for Steve Smith Carolina. Just wait til tomorrow and see. (no link, I've seen it reported nowhere, I'm just ahead of the curve if I'm right)
interesting angle we'll see if it happens. i just hope whoever the Ravens get doens't pan out... :towelwave:
