Falcons released QB Joey Harrington. It's never a good sign when you get beat out by D.J. Shockley. Harrington, 30, could still land somewhere in-season. The CFL is known to have interest.

So who is the ACTIVE leader for QB generating negative value? Kyle Orton? Grossman?I can't believe the greatest QB in NFL history at generating negative value has been released again.
David Carr.Who coincendentally looks like a pretty good backup to Eli.So who is the ACTIVE leader for QB generating negative value? Kyle Orton? Grossman?I can't believe the greatest QB in NFL history at generating negative value has been released again.
The worst two on the list have both been Lions. Figures.I can't believe the greatest QB in NFL history at generating negative value has been released again.
The greatest QB in NFL history at generating negative value was drafted by the greatest GM in NFL history at generating negative value. Perfect.I can't believe the greatest QB in NFL history at generating negative value has been released again.
Ravens signed QB Joey Harrington, formerly of the Falcons.Harrington was better than Chris Simms in Monday's workout, so he got the nod. Simms should start exploring options in Dallas and Chicago. Harrington has little time to get ready for the opener and probably isn't a candidate to start against Cincinnati, but was needed with Troy Smith and Kyle Boller out indefinitely. Look for Boller (shoulder) now to go on injured reserve. Sep. 1 - 5:10 pm et
Who was available with more experience? Serious question, I can't think of anyone save CPep.Good for Joey, I always liked him. Chicago should be chasing down Simms to get him signed, IMO.I know NFL QB's are scarce, but I'm surprised Joey was able to guarantee his '08 contract with a pre-Week 1 signing.Wow.![]()
I don't remember Harrington utilizing anyone during his previous stops. How does this affect Heap? I don't remember Harrington utilizing the TE during any of his previous stops.
Who cares about his experience when his experience is bad? Maybe they couldn't work a deal with him, but Simms sure seems like a much better guy to have than Harrington.PatrickT said:Who was available with more experience? Agreed...QB's with starting experience are not exactly dime-a-dozen. With that being said, the Ravens could have waited a week and gave themselves MUCH MORE flexibility with Harrington's contract. If Harrington received other pre-Week 1 offers, so be it. Culpepper...Simms...the Ravens could have even worked a trade similar to the McCown-to-Panthers deal.PatrickT said:Who was available with more experience? It appears that he has been signed by the Ravens today. Despite what some say about him, I expect him to have a long NFL career.Actually, I expect him to be signed by an NFL team by this Tuesday.
I'd rather have Kelly Holcomb than Joey Harrington. This again proves that BAL is horrible at evaluating QB's. This organization really needs to re-vamp the portion that evaluates, coaches and has anything to do with QB's.![]()
whoever Joey's agent is, he is the best in professional sports.
Not surprised that Joey was signed by an NFL team...but surprised that it was the Ravens...didn't they watch the last preseason game...not too inspiring...when a picture says 1000 words...

Despite a report from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that free-agent quarterback Joey Harrington has agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens, a league source tells us that Harrington has not yet signed — and might not.Per the source, Harrington has another visit lined up for Tuesday. We’re not saying that he won’t sign with Baltimore, but as of right now he hasn’t.
