In the dying minutes of the Ravens-Bengals thriller this Sunday Ray Lewis delivered a punishing hit on an intended pass for Chad Ochocinco, the pass had already flew by "Ocho's" head, but nonethless Lewis still delivered. The play resulted in an unnecessary roughness call that cost the Ravens 15 yards, and the game. Now According to ESPN, Lewis will be fined $25,000 by the league.

Chad's not trippin.

Ochocinco posted a video blog, talking in great detail about the hit. He says, "As I'm coming down, I look out of the corner of my eye and all I see is this machine coming at me. But the machine has a 52 on his chest."

Ochocinco and Lewis are friends off the field. The Bengals wide receiver even sent a message to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell asking the league to not fine Lewis for the hit.

He even talked about what he did after the hit. "Everybody just saw me get hit. So, let me pretend like I'm mad and run at Ray like I'm going to do something. I'm going to act bad. Now, you know no one's gonna walk up on Ray like that."

Friends or not, the hit was dumb and deserves a fine. IMHO, if he doesn't lower his helmet and lead with it - no issue, but leading with the helmet into a receiver in the air will get you penalized and fined everytime...and it should.

But I lol'd when Ocho got up and started walking toward him. :fishy:

Dumb play by Ray which might have cost the Ravens the game. I still can't understand why defenders feel the need to headhunt defenseless players in order to feel like a badass. A shoulder pad to the ribs shot in that situation would have had delivered the same message. It probably wouldn't have drawn a flag, possibly changed the outcome of the game, or cost him some cash (which I'm sure he said "straight cash homey" after he heard about the fine).

Well deserved fine, IMO. The shot was cheap & unnecessary.

I'm sick of seeing guys injure another player with a cheap shot & get fined only like $5k, which is essentially chump change to these guys.
