RB Breece Hall, NYJ (3 Viewers)

JPA
𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧: The Chiefs offered a 4th round pick to the Jets for RB Breece Hall, but the Jets held firm on wanting a 3rd, per @SNYtv

Breece was almost a Chief, but will instead stay with the Jets. This is awkward, as it became public that he wanted out.
As a Mahomes fantasy owner, I'm quite thrilled they were stingy here. I prefer it when they cant run the ball. Ha ha

It would have been a low 4th, so I can see why the Jets said no.

Hall owners have to hope that he doesn’t pull a TO/Keyshawn and get benched for his shenanigans.

Had he gone to the Chiefs he would have wasted away. That team runs through Mahomes. Doesn't matter who their RB is, they don't get significant use. I'd rather he stay with the Jets and get that alpha usage.

You know, I hardly ever feel sorry for millionaires, but I feel really bad for this guy. He is FO SHO getting franchise tagged ($11M) next year at a position that has a short shelf life....and on a team that he doesn't want to be with. He'll be franchise tagged until the wheels come off or he bends the knee and accepts some crappy offer with some guaranteed money.

Not to derail, but brought it up in previous years with the RB position, there should be special rules for them with regards to rookie contract length being shortened and/or changes to franchise tag rules. It will never happen because the NFLPA is a joke, but there should be a push there seeing how different things are for that position. Ironically I think the last big convo we had here on it the biggest pushback I kept getting was how unimportant RBs are, and than Barkley got traded to the Eagles and basically carried them to the SB, pun intended.

Over/under on 3 weeks before he makes a business decision and gets the mysterious hammy injury?
Thanksgiving turkey leg of $.

I really hope they trade him or Allen in the offseason. They currently have a glut of good RBs with him, Allen, and Davis. Glad he didn't end up on the Chiefs though. They rotate their RBs too much and as long as Hunt is there, he'll get the meaningful snaps. Hall would have wasted away on the Chiefs.

He would have been great on the Chiefs. Hunt would have been an afterthought. And fyi, Hall is a FA after this year.

Aaron Glenn on Breece Hall: #Jets

"He's our workhorse. That's something that we've talked about quite a bit, & when we needed him, he came through, & that's something that's not new for us. I trust him with everything. I trust the ball in his hands, & when times are tough, he WILL get the ball. This is a win by any means necessary type of league, & at that point, our way of winning this game was to make sure we feed him in a number of ways. We've got to give him the ball as much as possible because he can make plays for us."

#Jets RB Breece Hall is playing at an ELITE level. He went for 125 total yards and 1 TD vs the Browns, and has consistently been one of the premier backs in football this season.

His vision, burst, contact balance and overall ability to gain yards after contact are all special.

He used to hit 21.5 on the reg. But he looked good yesterday. It's just . . . there were some runs he would have housed years ago. But I'll stop with that. I'm just amazed how fast a guy that big used to be. Look at J. Taylor yesterday and this year. That was Breece, only a shade (by an eyelash) slower than Breece.

21.87 in 2022

Faster than Christian Watson that year.

Now look at K. Walker in there.

And you wonder why people howl at the coaches. Well, we saw it. They're not those guys anymore. But 20.39 is outstanding.

Breece Hall has faced a stacked box 49.3% of the time this season, among the highest rates in the NFL.

Hall has still averaged 4.1 YPC against stacked boxes, due in large part to the #Jets OL.

Hall’s 2.5 average yards BEFORE contact against stacked boxes ranks top-5 in the NFL.

The deck is stacked against Hall and the OL every week and they continue to excel.

I still stand by he's one of the 5 most talented backs in the league even after the knee injury (which I don't think he ever got 100% back from). But yeah, he will probably be back with the Jets next year and the results will be mediocre. Kenneth Walker went just a couple picks after Hall. I can only imagine the type of crazy numners Breece would have had just in a middle of the road situation like Seattle.

@NFLPlus
Breece Hall hit a top speed of 20.39 MPH on this 42-yard TD, per @NextGenStats 😳

78% of the jets passing yards yesterday, right there.
I am still unclear how it is possible to be that deficient in the passing game in this day and age. Impressive….
It is unreal. Especially considering he has a good arm, he was a proficient passer in college, top HS QB recruit. There is no logicial reason for him to be this bad.

Could it be as simple as it's because he has a defensive head coach with a 1st time offensive coordinator?

We talking about Fields or did I get confused?
Yes, talking about Fields still. Ha ha. I am in the camp that thinks Fields has the tools to be decent. Just trying quantify why it hasn't translated.
fields and all these prospects have pros and cons. IMO at the pro level, the pros come down a notch and the cons are amplified. fields’ biggest cons per walterfootball were:

Weaknesses:
Poor pocket awareness
Can get rattled by the pass rush
Can freeze when seeing the blitz
Must get better at passing in the face of the rush
Blitz recognition needs work
Needs to check the ball down more
Field vision needs development
Needs to get quicker working through progressions
Limited playing experience; only 1.5 seasons as a starter

Forget the playing experience, the other points are painfully evident and have only gotten worse with seasons. sometimes you can teach guys, other times it just needs to click.

An easy thing to root for the rest of the season: #Jets RB Breece Hall is on pace for a 1,200+ rushing yard season.

That would be a NEW career high & that would also place him inside the top 10 in franchise history in career rushing yards.

PLUS, he would be the first 1,000-yard rusher since Chris Ivory in 2015. No, that isn't a typo lol

Yeah, this is probably the most perplexing thing in football fandom. No, not how Justin Fields has been done dirty by OCs. But the Stockholm Syndrome certain players that aren't good at real and aren't even good at fantasy football put their supporters in. You hear things around about those GMs like, "I heard we lost him while he was regressing to the mean," or "he was walking down the street screaming "Terrible Tanner Towels—Two Trinkets!"

It's bizarre because one can see it. One knows this position is coming from the jump. See my comments to FarFromHome in Fields's thread travel their journey from disbelief to avuncular worry that this is happening, replete with jokes to maybe establish a connection before he disappears into that Justin state of mind. "Maybe he'll remember me on the other side," I thought.

I mean, I've watched the 'Drome happen with Fields for years. At first, it's just, "I'm really curious; he could be my QB3 in Superflex." Then he puts up 25+ twice and then for the third game where he gets concussed he leaves the GM with a 3.7 pts. at the QB position from 25 passing yards and 27 rushing yards and also he leaves the worst, non-sated mouthfeel. And inevitably somebody gets hurt in a different league and you see your friend's got that opiate-of-the-amasses look in his eye at dinner as he shrugs into his phone and announces to nobody in particular, "Well, he was free in my office start-1QB league. Man's gotta, you know," only there's an edge to it when he looks up from the small, rectangular box of light and you could have sworn he'd developed—in that instant—a temporary bout of watch-eye.

Then about two weeks after that kind of consciousness nod-out and abruptly snapped-to eye wonk you're introduced to, "Did you see what that OC did to Justin Canton?! When the **** is the GM going to be fired for letting the coach hire that imbecile to run an offense?!!!!"

His skillset is just so tantalizing and he's flashed just enough that people can't quite get past it. It would be interesting to make a list of these guys. Top 10 Stockholm Syndrome Players. Josh Gordon is on that list for sure.
