RB Darrynton Evans, TEN (1 Viewer)

Khari Blasingame is listed as #2 on the depth, with Evans on IR to start the sesaon. He has good speed for a big guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd6oeJBU5Fg

Anything to see here?
I doubt it.

Evans will be given every chance to succeed or bust. They really want a speedy take it to the house threat for third down.

Mekhi Sargent and McNichols are very good udfa gimme all ya got types.

Blas is a former college RB playing FB for years now. He supposedly doesn't have the reading ability and moves to be successful in the NFL. He absolutely could have developed but I think he's just more confident. He had good competition in camp and he rose to the occasion. He's very useful, very handy to have on the Titans roster. I wouldn't have him for FF.

If Henry goes down, it's probably a brutal share between many

I actually quite liked Evans coming out of college and have him on a dynasty roster, but his career has just seemed so stop and start so far. Has never been able to get any momentum up.

I'm not really sure but he is kind of a hybrid RB/FB.

That he is being listed as the number 2 as you say is worth noting.

Bri who follows the Titans more than me seemed to think he would be the back up if Henry missed time last season.

@Bri is that still the case for this year?

I know Evan's was hurt during preseason, not sure if he has recovered since then or not though.

He didnt make the Vikings roster when they had him as they preferred CJ Ham, I think mostly because Ham was a better blocker, more traditional FB perhaps than Blasingame at that time, but it's been a couple years now since then. I would assume he keeps getting better to make their team and be that high on their depth chart.

Players change and I'm not up to date on Blasingames development.

Mycole Pruitt is another former Viking TE who was more of a receiving option coming out of college, but was used as more of a blocking TE with the Titans. Just a example of how the strengths of these players can change as they develop.

I'm not wishing injury to Henry, but I would like to see what this guy can do.  Getting drafted by the Titans was a bummer at the time if I recall.

Julio is a bit of- don't you stack eight in the box against us- type warning.

Evans would win a foot race against many LBs and with AJB and Julio/Corey being strong blockers the Titans have planned to use that.

I would not be surprised if (when healthy) Evans is in the same backfield as Henry a time or two each game to see how the defense reacts. Don't forget he played the slot in OTAs and is a capable receiver.

He won't be a key cog. I wouldn't own him in FF.

The Titans TE is a former Harvard WR they like for his smarts against a zone D. Their FB was a college RB. Reynolds is a slot with surprising grit and speed. Marcus (when healthy) is supposedly a gem development type that finally made it. Chester Rodgers was always a pain in the neck slot WR in Indy. Cam Batson has insane lateral speed and has no idea how small he is.

It's Henry's team til his legs fall off. Everything is how can we get a D's attention away from Henry or get some room for Henry.

Evans is just another distraction.

Anyone hear anything on this guy? I thought he was eligible to come back after last week. Seemed like they were working him in the passing game quite a bit in the off-season. At some point Henry is going to need some help. Weird how there is no noise on him.

He's not ready so he didn't get designated to return.

He's got a door wide open when he returns, to show his speed n athleticism and ad a lateral threat to their run game as a scat back.

McNichols and Sargent have been solid and effective. McNichols is average in all areas (well rounded) but excellent pass pro. Evans has to return and block well as he did this summer.

Sargent is a little tough back.

Titans stink at injury updates so we don't know how far along he is in recovery/PT.

Vrabel said he's hopeful he returns this week.

Last week he was hopeful Marcus Johnson did and he didn't but probably this week. Sooo might be a two week window.

Also, McNichols has done well. He does NOT have Evans elite quicks but there isn't as pressing a need for him as previously thought
