RB Kenneth Walker III - SEA (1 Viewer)

Just heard on Sirius/XM Fantasy Sports Channel, Jeff Mans/Fantasy Guru afternoon show that he's having the surgery.

I'm acquainted with enough professional athletes, including football players, who've had sports hernias, and the accompanying procedure (which is almost inevitable), as well as athletic trainers and sports physicians, to opine with reasonable certainty that 'the post-surg rehab, is the post-surg rehab'...meaning that the 6-week minimum recovery timeline to return to full activity is almost 100% accurate, and that can extend out to up to 12 weeks. Just my opinion, based on what information I've been exposed to.

Report: Seahawks' Kenneth Walker Underwent Hernia Surgery; Expected to Play Week 1

Week 1 seems a tad optimistic to me but I am not a medical professional.
Unless this isn’t a sports hernia. If it’s an inguinal hernia it might be possible, even likely, he is back in a couple of weeks: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10029-021-02377-w

“Following groin hernia repair (Lichtenstein/endoscopic technique) and laparoscopic operation, the majority agreed on the proposal of 2 weeks refraining from physical strain.”

This sucks. As someone who had DOUBLE INGUINAL HERNIA surgery a few years ago, (plus hernia issues tend to run in families, it was all over my family tree too) I can tell you point blank I'd be shocked if he was fired up for week 1.
I was told point blank NOT to lift anything greater than 5 lbs for something like 6-8 weeks. I can't remember exactly, but it was at least 6 weeks.
I'm no NFL player, but I've trained and lifted most of my life so I stay in good shape.
Hernia injuries aren't about the caliber of athlete you are, its more the risk of "re-tearing" the area of where the injury was.....or even loosening or tearing the mesh they tend to use. A re-injury usually requires additional surgery.
To put a RB out there subject to hits over and over with such a bad O-Line just screams for problems this early.

Just as a guess, I'd think its week 3-4 before we see him really cut loose. In fact it wouldn't shock me to see them ease him along in weeks 6-8 slowly ramping him up.

PETE CARROLL- Time and time again we have learned not to pay attention to what Carroll says. (Jerry Jones anyone?? :excited: )
If Carroll says someone is injured, I listen to the injury and make my own judgements rather than wasting my time going over the ******** Carroll spews.

Regardless, RASHAAD PENNY 's stock just shot up a bit, especially early season.
The shark move might be to draft Penny, hope for a great first month then trade him before it becomes a mess.

I've got to believe Seattle is slow-playing a Garrapolo play; otherwise why would Pete Carroll even stick around?

Teams are waiting around for the price to be free. We'll see if there are any QB injures in week 2 of preseason that may increase the chances of a team trading for him.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said there was no timetable for the return of RB Ken Walker (hernia).

Carroll previously said that he expected Walker back in Week 1, so this is potentially a big change. If Walker is sidelined for a long while, Rashaad Penny would have a lot of runway as the starter. Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas are the only other established players in Seattle's backfield and both of them are better fits as third-down backs.

Am I allowed to post this guy here? I think it’s good insight. If not supposed to post other fantasy content, please delete and forgive me. No disrespect towards FBG intended. Just thought it was a valuable insight.

you can post anything from twitter......except this guy.
I totally forgot about this guy until now.

Does he have some good information and perspective… sure?

But sitting through his videos makes me want to poke my eyeballs out. And that’s before he even plugs whatever he’s shilling that day.

Note what I alluded to up in post #216 above ^^
Yep, a "new update" -
I just happened to stumble across this on Twitter.

New update #2 - Pete Carroll is STILL a dipshit. :wall:

Coach Pete Carroll said they're taking it "one day at a time" with Ken Walker (hernia).

Walker is still recovering from a hernia that knocked him out for the rest of the preseason. Carroll said, "He feels way better. He’s moving around. He was throwing the football around today." It seems like he is progressing, but ESPN's Brady Henderson reported his status for Week 1 still seems "up in the air." Rashaad Penny returned from COVID and the Seahawks hope to get their tandem back to open the season. Even if Walker does return for Week 1, take a wait-and-see approach before using him in your fantasy lineups.

It wouldn’t feel like a true fantasy season if Pete Carroll wasn’t saying Cryptic Pete Carroll things about an injury update.

According to Aaron Wilson at Pro Football Network, Walker has made a quick recovery from his hernia surgery and might be ready to play Week 1 or possibly Week 2.

“He had the surgery after the first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, Walker has returned to practice, and there’s a shot that he’s ready for the first game of the year. It sounds more likely that he’ll be ready for the second game, but he hasn’t been ruled out yet. A league source emphasized that Walker is extremely tough and has made a speedy recovery from the hernia.”

I would like to take this opportunity to complain about the guy in my league who will not trade me Kennth Walker iii, despite many generous efforts. No budging, even tho this player is already hurt before his first real game. Just goes to show you that you can't count on people at all to be reasonable.

Maybe you aren’t giving fair value?

Redraft? Preseason trades are tough. Everyone values their guy at his top end optimism for the most part. I drafted Ken and wouldn’t trade him.

Dynasty?

The first one was a 1st + Mattison, since hes the Cook owner too. I offered to throw in Ronald Jones when he showed indifference. Still no.

Then it was Miles Sanders + 2nd. He comes back with Sanders + a 1st. Yeah ok. Keep in mind this guy is supposed to be an Eagles fan. I told him he may as well start rooting for the cowboys with that attitude.

My nexy tactic was to use my commish powers to strong arm him. Since he put Isiah Likely on his t.s. as a free agent pick up, which is forbidden. It's supposed to be only for players drafted. I told him I'd let it slide if he trades me Walker for either of those deals. What does he do? He switches back Velus Jones on his t.s.

I'm over it tho. Really he did me a favor. My cousin got a hernia one time from putting on his socks. Now he cant even play corn hole.

Really bad offers.

You think Mattison and a 1st is really bad for Walker? It’s interesting how different people can see things.
Mattison has great value every time Cooks goes down and is a free agent after this season. No guarantee he gets a starting gig, but surely possible - and a 1st on a good draft. If I had Walker, I’d take that and I do like him.

This part seems a bid shady - maybe you’re just joking?

Ok

It is a fine offer if it's a 2023 pick. That's a generous offer, actually. Walker was around the back of a round one pick -- if that -- when they were doing drafts that included next year's dynasty-eligible guys. Given the news that Minnesota was looking to maybe trade Mattison to an RB-needy team, I might have taken that one.

But the guy may really like Walker.

It’s basically a 1st next year for Walker. Mattison is JAG. Not exactly a compelling offer when the other guy just drafted Walker. *Maybe* that offer gets a deal done after week 3 or 4. But now? Right after fantasy drafts? Doubtful.

It’s basically a 1st next year for Walker. Mattison is JAG.

That's a minority opinion on Mattison. Other teams are interested in him. Minnesota might move him. And a next year's first is likely more valuable than Walker's draft position had both classes been available this time.

And rookie drafts are all over the place. I had one in May, one slow one still ongoing in August. Depends. Lots can change from May.

If Penny and Walker were both 100% healthy, what do we think this backfield looks like?

I dont think penny is that great and he gets hurt constantly.

I thought they would share for awhile and eventually walker would take over. Because not only is he better but he would stay healthy. Him being hurt right now doesn't really change anything for me.

“Time value of money.” A pick this year is worth more than a pick next year.

“Time value of money.” A pick this year is worth more than a pick next year.

Not this year. A first-round pick next year was worth more than almost every one of them this year but the 1.01 and 1.02. That was the market according to devy guys, dynasty guys, and sites like KeepTradeCut. The players next year are better. We've argued about it endlessly in the dyansty threads here the past year.

Well, if it was argued about endlessly, then there must not have been a consensus.

All else equal, a pick in year N is worth anywhere from 25-50% more than a pick in year N+1. I've done pretty detailed research on this topic. Fantasy footballers basically incorporate an implied 25-50% "interest rate" in their valuation of picks and other commodities that involve a time continuum.

I get your point though -- the prospects in 2023 are widely viewed as superior to the prospects in 2022. That's a pretty common view -- but that doesn't mean "time value of money" concepts fail to apply.

Well, you certainly didn't make any offers that would have blown me away. You sound like this guy owes you something the way you gripe about him rejecting your offers. His fandom and your commissionership should have nothing to do with trades. Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me and you should apologize to your league for trying to use your powers as commissioner to manipulate a trade. Just sayin

Talked about, I should say. Those of us with 2022 picks lamented what they were fetching.

I know this. It usually costs a round to trade into a pick.

All bets were off because of it.

I don't argue your general point. I'm saying that this year was crazily different.

Agreed with rockation on this years picks not being more valued than next years. The cut off I found this year was after 1.02.
I usually trade 1.07-2.01 for next years firsts on the gamble they end up in the lottery system. This year I had to throw in some gravy on top. Examples:

I gave 1.10, 2023 2nd, 2023 2nd
For 2023 1st

Gave 1.04
For 2.05, 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2023 3rd:

In years past these would be big overpays on my part.
