RB Match Ups to Exploit/Avoid Week 5 (1 Viewer)

MOP,

Nice work as always, and I'm going to try really really hard to avoid making this a blantant WDIS question. More an understanding of the significance of your "Green Guys".

Has Lynch really earned the tag of "You must start him every week" status? Obviously he's a solid RB1, but he hasn't put together any mind-blowing games as of yet. Basically, he hasn't hurt you, but he hasn't won you any games by himself either. All that said, if faced with two other attractive options with very good match-ups (both of which you happened to highlight in green), then would "You must start him every week" still apply?

Put simply, which of your green guys would you rank ahead of Lynch this week that you wouldn't normally otherwise?

MOP,

I look forward to this every week and thank you.

My question is, you like every one of my running backs this week, and I can only start 3:

Barber, Turner, Forte, Stewart, Slaton.

Which three do you like best?

I agree that Dallas should have this game put away by halftime. If so, I think Felix will get a little more work, and possible a garbage TD, while MBIII gets what amounts to a half day.

(As an MBIII owner, I hope I am wrong)

FWIW I"ve switched Ronnie and CJ3 in and out of my lineup all week as my RB#2 (have Lynch in for sure). I finally put CJ3 in this moning and I'm leaving him there....at least for now.

Great question...I really need to clear this up. Typically I try and green light someone that could be overlooked or also I might green light a stud that I'm afraid people might bench...I hardly ever greenlight LT but he would be #1 almost every week I would release a list...if I ever did a list sort of speak. I would sit Lynch if you have better options, I see the Bills having to air it out to stay in this one where the Cards are at home and will surely not try and pound the ball on the Bills. This is probably going to be a big week for Lee Evans if he gets loose, just signed a big extension, probably want to show he is worth it although he is putting up top10 numbers, yes/no?PM me with specifics if you need a further explanation.

MB III for sure, and i think the others all have a good chance to land in or near the top10...top15, I would think almost any combo in there is good...but I like Stwart a little less because of the split. Slaton, while I liek him this week, Houston is no sure thing, but Indy is pitiful in run support, just don't know if Houston falls behind whether Slaton will still be in the mix. Turner and Forte get the most touches, I might lean that way...or you could do this...MB III all day, one of the Turner/Forte duo, and one form the Stewart/Slaton duo...mix it up. but have fun cause yo should have a nice week.

Can you share why you are doing this? ROnnie had a big game and 2 weeks of rest...San Diego had to exhauat a lot of energy to pull out the win in Oakland, now they fly cross country to play in some heavy humidty and heat...they might wear thin by the 2nd half and Ronnie could be a real ##### to bring down for those guys, not to mention Ricky will spell him and keep him fresh. I like Miami to sort of hang in this one some. I know I picked San Diego to win, but that is more because as a Phinsfan, I try hard not to be overly optimistic on them...but I would disect this game much this way of it were any other 2 teams.

Thanks for all the Hard Work MOP. Expecting a shootout, what do you think of Fred Jackson in PPR's??? He's getting a lot of carries / receptions in passing Downs. May be a sneaky play this week.

My immediate concern is starting him over who? I try to stay away from a sneaky play over someone with a proven track record

forgot to mention, nice job as always MOP, well done.

always look forward it it (miss the hell out of Wheelhouse's interesting tidbits...)

I'm not sure I trust the MIA pass D to keep the score close. If SD gets up big early, MIA will have to chuck it, perhaps negating RB's production - although I do admit he could be a decent part of the passing game at that point. I'm expecting CJ3 to have a solid game vs. BAL - especially with some of the BAL D injuries (Gregg, the FS, and the SS). I'm penciling CJ3 in for 100 total yrds. and a touch. Perhaps it's Lynch I ought to be sitting and roll with Ronnie and CJ3???

same here. your hard work on this is very much appreciated, MOP. fantastic job, yet again. i may have some comments/questions later, when i read it again, but all positive.
Thanks Blake, I look forward to your posts as well, that AFC only league you are in comes up in conversations I have with other writers, always an interesting topic.
i find this interesting, but in a good way. i remember starting a thread on whether people had heard of an AFC/NFC only league, and it was mostly panned. i guess, now with MLB interleague play, is it really that different from an AL or NL only league in fantasy baseball? i don't mean to hijack, but this is our 2nd year, and we only have a small group because we want to keep it an in-person league, but i have to admit i love it.

Not to hijack, but I'm intrigued--how do you handle players that change conferences via trade/free agency? Or is it redraft every year?

we wanted to have keepers, but we use ESPN right now, and there is no way to manually add an NFC player to a team. so that idea might be scrapped, but we may have to investigate Fox or Yahoo or just open it up to NFC players for this purpose alone, though the free agency list would get all screwed up. but from year 1 to year 2, there were no keepers. this was the first season we had put in the rules that we would have keepers. for trades, if that happened mid-season, you would just lose the player. trades rarely happen anyway, so we didn't think that would be a big deal.

Edge got both of the carries inside the 10 for the Cardinals last week and converted both of them, guess we'll have to wait a week or two to see if Hightower is still the goal-line back or not but it's something worth watching.
Hightower was 6/13/TD...so he had to get at least one of the goal line looks...and he was getting them the week before...maybe they split them now, who knows?
I watched the game and it was a good one. First two times on goal line Edge got the carries and scored easily both times. 3rd time on goal line Hightower got the carry and scored easily. Both looked good! Of coarse New York was so far up it looked like very little defensive effort was made to keep them out! Just my opinion from what I noticed.

I have to choose between LJ and CJ3 and I am starting CJ3. My reasons are 1.) the kid has breakaway speed and can take it 50 yards at any point
CJ has one carry of 40 yards and one of 20 (same carry, of course). LJ has four of 20 and two of 40.
2.) White is banged up and the Titans will have more success taking it outside the tackles
LJ will still get more carries.
3.) Gregg will miss the game for Baltimore which should open up room
Ravens with or without Gregg >>>>>>>>>>> Panthers.
4.) Ten D will hold Balt in check which should both provide short field opportunites, and a lead which will allow Ten to run the ball more.
Valid point, even though KC's defense is among the league-leaders in takeaways.

Captain Hook is exactly right.
If you read the thread you see my post was in response to MOP saying to get other opinions. He started the thread, if it didn't bother him not too worried about you and the cyber police. :lmao: Having alot of trouble keeping Light Blue Jesus on the bench, any more ideas on who to sit?

Don't know if it matters, but Edge got his two first and then Hightower - perhaps this at least suggests he is not a "goal line afterthought." :lmao: I considered putting him in this week, but am sticking with L. White, who's now listed as probable, for his consistency - despite the Ravens run defense.

Maybe Lynch is the odd man out? Brown is definitely hard to predict after that monster game following a couple weak ones. He definitely answered the health concerns.

It would be better phrased as, "I'm thinking of leaving LJ on the bench vs. Car so that Ronnie can play vs. SD @ home, and I think Flash will do well OOTB this week vs. the Ravens. Anybody else dealing with these decisions?"Discussing why you want to start or sit a player is fine. A cut & dry ACF question will almost always get flamed in the Pool.
