Foster will not lose any touches this weekend to anybody really. Taylor os hsaring some of the load with Drew...that's not a bad thing as it keeps him pretty healthy but it also is not always great for FF owners.Great work as always MoP ... like Wheelhouse a weekly Must Read!My problem is a good one for a change this week ... still it's a much needed W in play ... with Portis going as my RB1 who really is the better play @ RB2 ... Foster or F.Taylor ... both have very good match-ups but Taylor has MoJo takin' touches, the Texans give it up like a whore on payday (145YpG) so the Jags should run till there legs fall off ... but Foster faces another seive run D in Cincy (140YpG) ... I see Cincy forcing the game to an airshow which is their strength on both sides of the ball and with that perhaps they take some of the glitter off what should be a very good match-up for De'shaun ... thoughts ?![]()
If I'm not, I am sure I'll hear about it.I've got Portis, FWP and KJ.Portis is a must start vs Indy. I took your advice and plugged in KJ. Hope you're right. Why can't you play them both?Man, I'm having a really hard time deciding between FWP and K.Jones. Both you and FBG have KJ rated higher this week, but Parker is money every week. Even with Davenport getting some carries, Parker is getting a lot of looks, and is getting in the endzone a lot.I have Parker starting, and I'm not sure I can bring myself to sit him down. Even though KJ had a great week last week, he just seems so much more likely to have a bad week with his OL injuries. STRUGGLING.![]()
I think "statistically challenged" is a better term than Guru. I absorb a lot from these boards...even this weekly thing I have been doing has molded quite a bit since the beginning of the year...how lucky am I to get instant feedback from all of you? Very! What is Mcgahee's upside right now? Top15-20? What is Maroney's? As is, probably top25-30 if he has to keep splitting time...but should he actually take over at some point, many on here feel Maroney is a top10 RB the rest of the way. Talk to David Yudkin...I was against Mcgahee preseason and blasted people that were talking about top10 numbers from him. Edge last week against the Bears is all the proof you need that sometimes the number of touches does not equal success...he had 36 carries last week and was a major hole for most rosters.MOP-I guess seeing that you're the GURU of RBs what are your thoughts of trading Maroney for McGaheeI have Alexander and it's killed me. I also have Addai and Morris but that's it. I've managed a 3-3 record due to my play of my WRs and TE. I don't like McGahee against the Pats this week and then the Bills head into a bye week. With a suspect line in BUF I'm a little tenative about making the deal right now even though it sounds like a shoe in. What are your thoughts?
Thanks Radballs, good to see you in here.MOP,Very nice work and analysis here. Sorry I haven't been more active in your weekly threads, but this is a fantastic break down of the players and their upcoming matchups. You da man!![]()
Great question, let's analyze it a couple of ways. I am assuming you already have another RB1 slotted so the choice is LJ or Fred Taylor.1. You are filling the RB2 slot so in essence the back needs to produce somewhere in the 10-20 range. Anything over that is a bonus...anything under that is a disappointment. If the rest of your roster looks good for this weekend than I might play it close to the vest and simply input Larry Johnson knowing he will get the ball 15-20+ times and maybe even get lucky and the SD defense gives up a few points as it did to the Niners last week. Why risk Fred Taylor who is sharing time? Even with a super good match up he could end up with 12 carries for 50 yds...Jax gets way ahead and MD comes in and has a sensational day out of the slot and also carries the ball a lot in the 2nd half. I'm not saying that will occur but I am giving you the different options that could happen on Sunday.2. If the rest of your roster has question marks...and if the team your going up against is likely to put up a good amount of points...then you migth want to swing for the fences a bit and try to exploit a match up. The Texans are not playing that well but Jax will be on the road...we saw that Washington which is not a great passing team lit them up. When you travel on the road you play different...just ask the Bears. So if there is some trading of blows back and forth then Fred Taylor would be in the game a lot longer and may have to carry it over the end zone a couple times to help Jax win. I can't answer your queston directly as to who to start...I think it's important for people to reach those conclusions themselves unless I see a major major mistake people are making...LT/MT last week was one of them.Good luck this weekendFantastic work, MoP!This week I'm torn: after last week's outing, I have grave doubts as to what kind of production LJ is going to get this week against SD's defense. I also have Fred Taylor, and, on matchup alone, he looks like a better play this week. But do you follow the "never sit your stud" rule here or go with a player with a better matchup (and, with Leftwich now questionable for this week, Fred's value might be a little higher)?
Why is everyone so down on Edge nowadays?... I'm guessing that's because alot of owners couldn't resist snatching him up with the 1.09 / 1.10 pick - still expecting Indy's numbers...The Cards Oline run blocking is putrid - always was it seems... and last week, Edge played probably the best front 4 in the league (even though Ogunleye was absent) with Urlacher roaming... the Cards were on top, the Bears knew they would run - yet everyone blames Edge for the no gainers late in the game... (I also wonder why the Cards don't use more of the shotgun with Edge besides Leinart - which accounted for 25 yards on the first drive)...All expectations were for 65/70 yards this past monday - that was the result... yet everyone on tuesday morning was sticking a fork in him?... If your argument is that he lost his burst, his explosiveness - that the Colts offensive scheme was the only reason Edge would get 1800 scrimmage yards per year - fine... but to say he's done when running for 65 yards against the Bears when the Cards were leading and got defensive - I don't get it...---Anyhow, sorry for the hijack MoP - as usual - tremendous and insightful postEven against Oaktown, I don't want any piece of Edge right now.
Isn't 4.0 basically the league average for YPC? My point is this - on a per-snap basis, this run defense is okay. They look worse than they should because so many Oakland games have been blowouts, but that's more of a strike against the offense than it is the defense.Oakland is giving up 4.0 ypc. I don't think that's all that "okay", especially when it results in 149.0 yards per game.I think Oakland's rushing defense is getting a bad rap. Per carry it's been okay, it's just that teams have been toasting Oakland in general and can pile up the rushing attempts late. If Arizona doesn't win in a rout - and they're merely 3-point favortes - I don't know if Edge has a giant day that some people expect.
