RB Ronnie Brown - To Play, But How Much? (1 Viewer)

Dolphins starting running back Ronnie Brown, who has been given the green light to return to practice for the first time since breaking his left hand last month, expressed confidence that he'd be able to play in Monday's home game against the New York Jets.

Brown, who has missed the last three games since undergoing hand surgery on Nov. 24, had the cast removed Monday morning.

"Yeah,'' Brown said when asked if he would play. "I'm cleared to practice, so that's a good sign to kind of take advantage this week to see how things go and see what I can and can't do, as well [as] get something going into Monday.''
LINKSounds like Ronnie will play week 16 vs NYJ. Pretty decent matchup and he had been running well before the injury (excpet for MIN game but nobody has run on them).

Is three weeks too long of a lay-off to get back to game speed?

Any predictions on number of carries and stats? 75/1 with 4-5 catches would be nice.

i think he'll make a nice #2 option...i'm sure he hasn't been sitting around eating pork rinds on the sofa. i'm debating between him, dunn, and dayne :bag: , but will probably roll with him if he plays.

Bump for any updates. Any homers hear anything? Would like to know if hes definitely playing before tomorrows game. If so, will he be splitting time?? TIA.

Jets run defense isn't that great, so I'd expect a lot of rushing out of Miami. And Brown has awful fresh legs..I am in same boat, looking for any early word anyone might get -- especially since my opponent in the second round of the playoffs has Sammy and I got Ronnie...

I'm facing the Brown/Morris owner this week. This news actually doesn't bother me. I think they both get around 15 carries, instead of one getting 20+.

From Rotoworld.............

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Ronnie Brown (hand) fully expects to start on Monday night against the New York Jets.

Sammy Morris heads to the bench, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Brown get nearly all the carries Miami's backfield. The Dolphins didn't work Wednesday, but Brown should be practicing at full-tilt by week's end.

Lost Portis and R Brown. Found MJD to save the season. This is the best news I have heard in six weeks. It could not have come at a better time. Well done.

From KFFL............

Miami Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown (hand) practiced Thursday, Dec. 21, and head coach Nick Saban felt Brown did a satisfactory job throughout practice.

more of the same from rotoworld.................As expected, Ronnie Brown (hand) practiced without restrictions Thursday. He is fully expected to play against the Jets. The Miami local newspapers should have some information about whether his snaps will be limited on Monday night, but we expect that he will carry close to a full load.Source: miamidolphins.com

He may well start, but I doubt he will carry the load.

Very risky start IMO.

Right now I'm believing he'll get @ 17-18 touches. He's staying on the bench behind Dayne and Betts, at least for now. Of course, I've only got @ 40 minutes to change my mind.

Brown practices: Running back Ronnie Brown practiced for the first time since breaking his left hand against the Detroit Lions on Nov. 23.

"Physically, it felt pretty good," said Brown, who is listed as questionable. "I'm doing everything, participating in all the drills so it's like a normal practice for me."

Brown is wearing a pad on the top of the hand and underneath his glove. It did not restrict Brown's ability to catch the ball. Brown said he expects Sammy Morris to start against the Jets.

That does it for me-- both Brown and Morris ride the bench this week.

Ditto. "F$%@#$@K!!!", say Brown owners....

ROTOWORLD: Ronnie Brown says he expects Sammy Morris to start on Monday night. Brown, listed as questionable but seemingly set to play after practicing without incident Thursday, is wearing padding on the top of his hand and beneath his glove to support his injury, but it reportedly doesn't restrict his pass-catching ability. We can't see Morris winding up with more touches against the Jets, but Brown is now a slightly riskier RB2 play.

MORRIS TO START

Although Ronnie Brown seems ready to play again, after missing three games with a broken left hand, Sammy Morris will remain the starting running back against the Jets.

''There's been no decision made yet about how we'll use him,'' coach Nick Saban said. ``We're still viewing Sammy as the guy who will be out there starting, and decide how much we use Ronnie relative to how he finishes the week.''

Actually this is good news for me. I own Morris and already planned to sit him, but my opponent in the superbowl has Brown and is starting him. I bet he doesn't know about a possible split of carries. Thanks to FBG's info like this, I feel I have the edge this week. Mr. 14-1 is going down! :goodposting:

What does that mean "how he finishes the week"? Hasn't he been practicing fully all week?

RB Brown Ready, But RB Morris Gets Start

Armando Salguero, Miami Herald - [Full Article]

any latest word? brown owners, are you rolling the dice with him or do you have a better option today? i'm going nuts here, wondering whether to replace brown with maroney or vernon davis at flex. can't afford to have brown get only 10 carries to "work back into it" on MNF while morris gets 18 carries, 105 yds and two short TDs.

Ya what he said but I would to see Morris get 105 yards with two short TD's. ;)

I have Ron Brown and I'm benching him, FWIW.

Too much downside risk. Sure there's a chance he could get 10-15 pts, but that's under a 25% chance at best. He has about the same chance of posting a zero, IMHO.

I can't afford the risk.

As for his health - part of his appeal was his ability to catch out of the backfield, and that's virtually gone with that injury and all the padding he'll have on his hand. That cuts his production and opportunities. He's even said Sammy Morris will start, and he sounds at peace with it. That's not a good sign.

If you have ok or better options, that'd be my call. If you need to gamble to win, go for it, but understand the downside risk of getting a donut.

eff morris. ronnie owners have been patient...we need him NOW!

Man, I just don't know what to do. I have both Morris and Brown and playing in the championship game.

I can only play one of them...we only start 2 RB and I have Tomlinson. :loco:

Miami has nothing to play for, so I don't see a reason for them to risk the franchise in a meaningless game. Meanwhile, Sammy Morris is going to be playing for his 2007 job.

The Jets have one of the worst rush defenses in the league -- in their first matchup Brown went 22/127/1. I wouldn't be surprised to see similar stats tomorrow -- but from Morris.

Any homers have any concrete news on who's expected to get more carries? Could be make or break for those us who spent high picks on Brown four months ago.

rotoworld: The Associated Press reports Sammy Morris and Ronnie Brown will likely split carries over the last two weeks of the season. Although he strung together a few strong games just prior to breaking his hand, Miami's rushing attack didn't miss too much while Brown was out. Morris, who owns the Dolphins' two longest runs of the season, will start on Monday night and may again in Week 17 at Indianapolis.so, we might assume around 15 carries apiece tonight, depending on how the game's going? i just hope ronnie gets a TD. that's it. don't need any more than that.

Maybe, but they were 5-6 with Brown (averaging 17.9 points per game) and 1-2 with Morris (averaging 10.3 points per game).

Well, FGB seems to think that it is Morris who will be the strong play. Yesterday it was Rhodes who was ranked pretty high with Addai ranked low...and we know how that one worked out. They have Morris ranked higher than Brown for this game, so I'm thinking about going with Brown.
