RB Sean Tucker, TB (6 Viewers)

Starting Tucker with confidence this week. He’s looked more efficient as a runner lately than White and I can see his work load start to increase. The Bucs face the Bills this week, who have given up the 5th most (tied with the Falcons) fantasy points per game to RBs this season.
Confidence? I think not.
Think what you will, but I’m starting him with confidence this week and stated my reasons for it. You may not be confident enough to start him this week but I am. To each their own.
How much work is required to reach confidence level for starting? 9 Carries? 10? 12?
The idea is that Tucker is trending in the right direction, his direct competition in the opposite direction, and that more work should follow. I’m estimating he gets more than 12 carries this week (let’s say 14 because White will still get his) and gets in the end zone at least once.

I started him as my flex last time he faced New Orleans and he went for 12-42-1, not amazing but enough to be the winning difference in my matchup that week. This will be the first time I start him since then, the time feels right for it. I have both White and Tucker in one of my leagues and I’m riding with Tucker in that one. Of course it wouldn’t be the first and won’t be the last if this completely backfires on me. But this is one of those times I’m trusting my gut. I recently switched out Keenan Allen for Jameson Williams at the last minute and it won my matchup, so I’m trying to ride that good vibes train. At the end of the day we’re all just guessing. In terms of Tucker I see the storm coming and am trying to react early rather than waiting for it to arrive.
I appreciate your post, but my take is that the team has been trying to make Sean Tucker a thing for 3 years now. It's failed. At one point he was supposed to take over the entire TB backfield and that fizzled out big time. IF he was that player, he would have taken that backfield by now. He couldn't even unseat Rachaad White.

He isn't happening unless an injury to White happens. White hasn't been fire either, but he isn't going anywhere. If Tucker is all you have then I understand rolling him out there, but outside that he's barely a bench warmer in FF.

Who are you benching in favor of Tucker?
Kenneth Walker in one league, Rachaad White in another

We have to consider the timeline. His rookie season he wasn’t medically cleared to practice until July of that year due to his heart condition, which caused him to go undrafted. He missed OTAs and the Bucs still saw enough in him that he made the team despite all of that. White was the incumbent and ended up having a pretty solid 2023 campaign. Tucker was a longshot to see the field unless White got hurt and White played the whole 17 games. Pretty sure the Bucs OL had key injuries and Tucker sucked at pass pro so that limited him to special teams duty.

Last year the Bucs drafted Irving and he too played the full 17 games and played very well on top of it. Tucker’s breakout game against the Saints came when White was out with an injury. He outplayed Irving that day but Bowles still preferred Irving and White over him. Might’ve had to do with pass protection. It definitely wasn’t running ability. I couldn’t tell you.

All I know is now, Irving is hurt worse than originally expected, and Tucker is getting involved in the offense more in recent games. The talent was always there, the opportunity really wasn’t until now. White is still going to play plenty, he’ll even continue to start in Irving’s absence, but Tucker is the guy I trust more to make the most of his touches. Once Bowles agrees, look out. I think it starts this week. I don’t think Irving loses his job long term, he’s RB1 on this team when healthy, but short term I think White starts to take a backseat to Tucker in terms of overall usage. Though White’s role as the passing down back isn’t in any jeopardy.

Going to put in waiver requests for Tucker in the leagues where he’s still available and I have room. But I’m expecting similar to last year: had a great game and showed promise…and then did nothing after I picked him up. Or was that 2 years ago. Can’t keep track anymore.

It is my opinion he’s still kind of a desperate start. On par with Badie.

It was last year. Week 6, Rachaad White out. Sean Tucker, 28 snaps, 17 touches, 192 total yards, 2 total TDs. Week 7, Rachaad White returns, Bucs put the genie back in the bottle. Sean Tucker, 16 snaps, 6 touches, 38 total yards, no TDs.

Fantasy Pros has him ranked in the low RB50s, with the likes of Sampson, Knight, R. Davis, Rodriquez Jr. and Neal for ROS. This week he's ranked RB37

I'm holding Tucker. Bucky doing walk-thrus without pads doesn't mean anything. Until I see a full practice logged, I'm going to assume he's not cleared for contact and still in weeks' long limbo of being out.
I just saw a blurb where they said they are in "rehab mode" with Bucky. Then I see another that says he was back at practice! How is practice rehab? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!

Bowles just said there's still no timetable.

Yep.

Teams beat Buffalo by running the ball right? At least I thought I heard someone talk about that recently. Achane just ran all over them so maybe it's true. With Tucker getting the start, I'm desperate enough at this point to flex him in 0.5 ppr.

This is how I’m finding out Tucker is starting this game.

I'm looking at the official depth chart for the week and he's still 3rd string. I've seen nothing official that he's starting over White, but the last 2 games he's gotten one less carry than White. So he may be backup, but he's getting his share of work. My bad for indicating he's starting.

Who said Tucker is getting the start
