RB Sony Michel (4 Viewers)

DJ Moore? MVS seems pretty legit, him and Geronimo had just about identical snap counts last week. Wouldn’t be surprised if he cements himself as the #2 with Geronimo having 2 soft tissue issues now (groin and hammy).

My options aren’t so good, it’s either cordarelle or Tajae on Monday.  I really need Sony to go

Torrey out and TB defense has me loving Moore and being a great option for Cam.  Though yeah...different thread but I’m back  and forth on he and MVS.  The Michel game time decision may have me pull the trigger for MVS now to have that option.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports "there's concern" Sony Michel (questionable, knee) won't be able to return this week.

Advice: The Patriots will test out Michel in pre-game warmups, but this throws shade on his status. Michel had been trending toward playing after practicing on a limited basis all week. Owners need to have backup plans in place with New England playing on Sunday night. The Patriots would go with a committee of Cordarrelle Patterson (questionable, neck) and James White if Michel sits.

Having a backup plan in place (MV-S) or playing someone else who plays in an early game might be prudent.

NE offense is totally different without Michel, good enough for 25-30 points against most defenses but not playoff worthy.

Total speculation but I don’t think NE goes anywhere in the playoffs without Michel and I think NE knows that and sits him until he’s 100%.  If they wanted to put this guy in when he’s not 100% he would have been active at the start of the season.

It depends on how much they want to win this game. Gronk may not play and Edelman is both nursing an injury and was out sick during the week. Do they really want to roll out Patterson at RB, Allen at TE, and Gordon / Hogan / Dorsett?

I agree. Depends on how much they want to win this game

Safe to say they want to win every game. I’m sure they’d love to have Michel out there to grind it out and help keep Rodgers off the field, but if he’s not healthy, not much they can do.

Sure there is, they can play him even though he’s injured.

Im guessing they don’t do that like I said but guys play injured all the time.

Shoot before the concussion protocol it was depressingly funny how many knocked out RBs you’d have coming back in with the team saying they got their leg hurt on a play where they had obviously been concussed

I guess it depends how “not healthy” he is and whether he can cut.

Its too bad he missed this game. He may have had 3 TD's if he'd played. The way New England is running the ball in the redzone, Michel is a potential top-5 RB in standard leagues when he comes back.

To play devil’s advocate, Patterson may have earned a role going forward that may cut into Michel’s touches. We know White will get his, the rest is not as clear.

Bigger problem for Michel (and White) down the stretch could be Burkhead coming off IR.  Not in terms of him taking over but that could be the excuse Belichick needs to make this a traditional cluster**** of a NE backfield that limits their ceiling in the fantasy playoffs.

Burkhead coming off IR is the only logical explanation I can think of for the fact they haven’t signed another RB

any confidence in Michel today?
Plenty. He's a solid RB2 in my opinion. I expect roughly 15 carries, likely 3-4 of which are inside the 20. 15-75-1 seems pretty possible.

I think he'll go right back to top-10 numbers after the bye, assuming no setbacks.

Do you think he's a better start over Ingram? I like Sony, but given the injury and the matchup, I'm a little concerned. Considering benching him this week.

Yeah, I'd start him over Ingram. Ingram has all the same workload questions, without having as much TD upside.

Sony Michel (knee) is active for Week 10 against the Titans.

This has been the expectation since early in the week. Michel carries some risk coming off a two-week absence, but he also has as much touchdown upside as any back this side of Todd Gurley, Kareem Hunt, and Alvin Kamara. He should be put right back into fantasy lineups.

OK, so hit me with what you're thinking about Michel this week, and who he's in/not in for in your lineup.

I'll go first. I'm genuinely torn on him vs. Lindsey. On the one hand, part of me wants to wait until he definitively shows that he's all the way back. On the other hand, he has a much better match-up than Lindsay, and I could absolutely see the Pats using this as a get-right game where they pound Sony over and over again (kind of like they did in the Miami game earlier this year).

As of right now, keeping him in, but this may go down to the wire.

I have him in over Edelman in a 0.5 PPR league.  I think the Pats annihilate the Jets here and Sony gets 1--3 TDs via the ground game.

McCoy annihilated that Jets two weeks and the Pats O-line is better than the Bills O-line.

In for me, over Lindsay and Ingram.  I like Sony's matchup with NYJ, and BB never takes this game lightly.  As @ahartig said, McCoy slashed NYJ pretty well and I think Sony will do the same, if not a little more.

hmmm well was going back and forth b/t him and Cooper in the flex. The comments here may be swaying my decision to Michel.

I'd start him over Cooper for sure.  Almost guaranteed 15 touches or more, Pats are pissed, I doubt Belicheck puts the breaks on the offense.

He's gotta be one of the most likely RBs to get into the end zone. He's in for me.

Nice 34 yard run on his first play back from the injury. He looks like the best RB in this class after Barkley.
Barkley>Chubb>>Lindsay>Johnson>>Michel in my opinion. Its been a nice class so far, and Guice likely would have been the offensive centerpiece in Washington. I like Michel, but he benefits a lot from his role and landing spot, and while he's been good, I can only imagine what Chubb would have been in NE, or even Johnson.

4.6 ypc this season so far. If Sony can learn some pass-catching skills and can stay healthy, he'll be a handful for defenses to game plan against.

Learn pass catching skills? Do you know what his role was at Georgia? I think he's got that base covered, it's just that White is an elite pass catcher out of the backfield
