REAL Dynasty Rankings (1 Viewer)

Ok, so maybe I don't necessarily mean ONLY dynasties, but I figured this would be a better topic title.

How would you rank some of the notable NFL teams and their runs of success? From best to worst. At least 1 Super Bowl win or championship during the team's run is required to be considered, but more SB wins isn't automatically meant to be better. Perhaps you think the 70's Raiders were better than the 00's Patriots, for example.

(I'm making this topic a bit quick, I'll edit it to make it a little clearer soon if there's some confusion)

Here are some notable teams to consider, feel free to add or argue for more if I'm forgetting any, I'm starting this from memory

50's Lions

50's Browns

50's/60's Baltimore Colts

60's Packers

70's Steelers

70's Cowboys

70's Raiders

80's 49'ers

80's/early 90's Redskins

90's Cowboys

John Elway's Broncos (hard to classify them by a specific multi-year run)

00's Patriots

00's Steelers

00's Colts

From memory

Started following the Steelers of the 70's, lived with the 49ers of the 80's, saw the dominance of the Cowboys and Patriots for the last 20 years

Best team I ever saw, the Debartolo (pre cap) 49ers led by Bill Walsh and Eddie's checkbook.

Greatest post-cap teams I have seen are the Patriots...year in, year out

Choosing 3 teams in one decade kind of waters down the word "dynasty".The Colts have been a very good team during that stretch year in and year out, but one championshsip does not = a dynasty.

As I said, I don't only mean dynasties, but rather notable teams of different times. The Colts and Steelers may not have been dynasties, but they were elite and consistent teams of the decade that people will remember. The 70's Raiders and 80's Redskins weren't dynasties either, but people still talk about them as great teams and often compare them against the dynasties of their eras, and I feel like we will do the same historically for the Steelers and Colts of the 00's in the future.

1. Steelers 70's, they are the gold standard by which all other NFL greatness should be judged.

2. Packers 60's, the Lombardi trophy, titletown, enough said.

3. 49ers 80-95, I'm stretching them out to 15 years becasue some of the Steve Young teams were top-notch as well.

4. Browns 45-55, Paul Brown, Otto Graham, Marion Motley. I'm counting the pre-NFL dominanace as well.

5. Dolphins 70-75, Miami had the best short run of any team in NFL history in my opinion. 3 straight Super Bowl seasons, winning two, and going undeafeated in one of them. They don't get enough respect.

6. Cowboys 90-95, 3 Super Bowl wins in 4 years, the triplets, might have been higher if Johnson stuck around.

7. Bears 30-45, George Halas, Bronco nugurski, Red Grange, Sid Luckman, 6 titles including a 73-0 win.

8. Lions 50's, Bobby Layne, Doak Walker, 3 titles during that stretch, and most of the losses were to the Browns.

9. Raiders 75-85, Al Davis' heyday. Staber, Biletnikoff, 3 championships, and many runs ended by the Steelers.

10.Patriots 00's, Brady, Belichick, 3 titles in 4 years, probably would be higher if not for spygate.

That's my top-10. I kind of think if drops off after the 49ers, and then again after the Cowboys. The 90's Broncos were probably the toughest omission, but they had a few under .500 years during that stretch, and should probably be penalized for doing some somewhat illegal things with the salary cap. 90-95' Bills were also a tough omission, but since they never won a title its tough to make them top-10, both they and Denver are top-15 for sure though.

This The Fins are one of only two teams to play in 3 straight Super Bowls and the only thing that ended the run was the WLF raiding three stars, Csonka, Kiick, and, Warfield.
