Reception points for only WR and TE (1 Viewer)

For those have have experience with reception points for only WR and TE, how has it affected the RB value? What do you see happen in the drafts, trends and such. And what have you noticed about the top teams' rosters? Are they WR heavy, or are they the usual solid RB base?

Depends on the roster requirements. With 12 person 2/3/flex you should see lots of RB/WR WR/RB for 1st/2nd.

My league starts 1 Qb, 1 rb, 2 wr, 2 flex WR/RB and 1 TE. WR's get .25/reception and TE's get .5/reception. RB's are still the most valuable but it's not too crazy where 22 of the first 25 picks are RB's. I think giving WR's any more then .25/reception makes it too much of a crapshoot. I don't understand making WR's as valuable as RB's. WR's are harder to predict is just seems to make luck even more of a factor.

.25/reception = Money

See that's why I'm confused with how the value changes:

In one of my leagues the scoring changed to where .5 per reception is given to TE and WR only. I think it gives the people drafting in the 123 spots even more of an advantage this year. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but am sure tempted to go WR/WR with my first 2 picks.

I've done several mock drafts with the draft dominator and no matter which strategy I go with, it seems my team is far behind the top 3 picks.

This is very true. My flex league has 12 teams (14 roster spots) and 6 WR's were taken in round 2 (Smith, Holt, Harrison, Johnson, Fitz & Moss). Wayne, Gates & Boldin went in the first 5 picks on round 3. Using the FBG projections even receivers like Driver & Mason are projected to score more than RB's like Westbrook or K.Jones if you give them 1/2 a PPR. Last year we tried PPR for the first time and gave 1 PPR. It made the WR's too strong....someone was having a 30 point game every week.

Pick Gates.:championship:
I've actually thought about that with my late pick. But I can't bring myself to pick up a TE that early. According to the Draft Dominator, I should pick Gates along with a WR. But I feel like I should pick at least 1 RB in the first 2 rounds.GatesSmith/Holt/Moss/Fitz/Johnson/HarrisonLewis/JJDillonDoesn't seem like too bad of a roster through 4 rounds. And with so many questions surround the RBs that would be available with a late round pick. At least I have a couple of more days to think about it.But I'll probably do what I always do, and what seems to always make sure I'm in the running. RB/RB or RB/WR.

I really don't think .05 for a RB reception makes a big difference...last year the top RB got only 35pts (Jordan with 70 receptions) nice to have if in that kind of scoring system though.

Jordan 70

Tiki 54

LT 51

LJ 33

Portis30

Rudi 23

Alexander 15

So looking at it makes no difference to me in RB receptions (unless at Jordans numbers).

Now yards and TD's that's a different story. :bye:

Now in a league with no points for RB receptions and .5 per receptions for TE and WR only, take away 70 points from Jordan. It makes a huge difference. The top WR in a league like this are worth more than the 9th or so on RBs. So filling a roster with 2 top WR and filling in with RBs in the 15 to 20 range might be the best strategy starting off your roster.

Yup there is a decrease if no points for a rb rec...but its 35points .05X 70=35 still almost 6 TD's though!

Thought that this topic might generate more response than this. I was wrong. Back to number crunching for me.

I'm a commish this year and here's how it affected things. For PPR, I have 0.5 points for WR and 1 pt for TE, and 0 for RB. The goal for me is to even out the drafting and make something beyond RBs important. As a commish, what I don't want to see is 30 straight RBs come off the board in a good league.Strangely enough, this still doesn't affect RB value a ton. You notice that people start filling out receivers a little earlier than normal, but there are still SO few top RBs, that they go early anyway.I'm of the opinion that RBs are so valuable because they are so few of them, you don't need to do anything to make them seem more valuable. Short of making their yardage or touchdowns less valuable, you aren't going to make a huge dent in RB popularity. You are talking 5% or less difference IMO.
