ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Rams agreed to contract terms with wide receiver Reche Caldwell on Tuesday, adding depth to the position.

Caldwell got a one-year contract.

The 28-year-old Caldwell played for the Washington Redskins last year when Al Saunders was that team's offensive coordinator. Saunders now has that job with the Rams.

Caldwell caught 15 passes in eight games last year, with a 17.6-yard average. In 2006, he caught 61 passes with a 12.5-yard average and four touchdowns for New England. He spent his first four seasons with the Chargers after being selected in the second round of the 2002 draft.

I saw this thread being neglected and wanted to give :lmao: his props. Unfortunately, on the Rams he likely won't be able to showcase the best part of his game -- dropping touchdown passes in championship games.

3 years ago-he's just not that good

2 years ago-he's way better than I thought and while still not great he's getting the production

I thought last year "why'd you sign there?"

This year I think he thought opportunity, which IMO was wise. Holt's knee and Bennett having not been that good for a while himself, he might be able to sneak into the lineup.

You bitter Patriots fans need to realize that if Caldwell hadn't made that catch down the sidelines at the end of the SD game a week earlier, they might not have even been in the championship game. Oh, and the Patriots defense is the reason they lost that game. But yeah, I can see how a 38-34 loss would be a WR's fault. :lmao:All of that aside, Caldwell is a marginal NFL WR.

Fourth team in four years - not a great career path.
$4.2 mill since 2002 plus whatever he signed with the Rams for is a better career path than any of us here.
Using that logic it could be argued that Ryan Leaf had an excellent football career.
Rather play a game and get hit then sit in a cubicle 8 hours a day. Just my thoughts. Maybe not an excellent career.....Can't really compare a QB with a receiver, but:Leaf played 3 years and threw 14 TD's and 36 INT, and had 24 fumbles.Caldwell has played 6 years thus far and has caught average of 50 passes, 300 yards and 2 TD's. Leaf's career is by no means successful. Caldwell's isn't anything stellar either, but more impressive than Leaf's.I think Leaf made $20 million?(can't find a link) in 3 years, so I guess financially, he is more successful? Guess you're right.

As a Holt owner I picked him up for insurance against Holt's knee and for the slight possibility he beats out Bennett.
