Red Sox Unfairly Targeted (1 Viewer)

MrJimmy

Footballguy
Just ran some heavy duty quantitative analysis and I'm sorry to report that for every one post or thread that regards the Boston Red Sox, their fans, and all pertinent encumbrances in a positive light, there are 3.4 posts or threads that kvetch, whine, and complain about said positive Red Sox post or thread. (Including the New England Patriots in this scale raises the anti-Boston post rate to 5.8:1.)

Personally, I don't give a #### what others think about the Red Sox or their fans. But for every [icon]/Wilked boast, there is a bottleneck of poor slobs from the midwest posting about how their teams spend only 17% of the Yankees and Red Sox. Then there's another long line waiting to post about some inane anecdotal experience they had with a Sox fan in 1983, thereby proving that all things Red Sox suck. And so on.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy mocking other teams and fans. That's part of being a fan, particularly here on a message board. But the obsession with bashing the Sox and their fans now produces a sympathy counter to the original intent. The research bears this out.

Some otherwise lucid posters mar their ipersona with their silly vendetta against the Red Sox. If this is meant to entertain us, I'd like to see some new material, a new slant, something-anything. I'm tired of the money angle and the unprovable "fans are all idiots" rant.

You know who you are.

The better question is what percentage of posts are unprovoked attacks on the Red Sox, and what percentage are responses to idiot things like this or the other thread about hating the Sox.

That's what I hate about the Red Sox winning the World Seres... now we've got ####### like you in Red Sox Nation.

Why would you start a duplicate thread about why people hate the Red Sox?

You couldn't post in the other thread?

FWIW the gist of the 1st thread regarding BoSox bashers is that no one really hates the Red Sox.

We just all hate the gloating, pity me, envy me, bandwagon fans that feel the need to start duplicate threads using a vast vocabulary to say the same thing.

THe self loathing side in me allows me to hate all red sox fans as well so this works out well.

#### you Mr Jimmy and your pansy ### attention whoring subject line. Eat a #### and die of some newfound communicable disease.

I hate you and everyone else who seeks affirmation from the masses for being a fan of anything. Shed the skirt and grow a spine you sniveling piece of emotional driftwood.

Much Love,

Mom

ETA: This thread sucks NYNJMUFFDIVERS scrote.. which unfortunately will net Mr Jimmy zero STD's due to the subject's inability to get laid since the democrats held the white house. Everything that dude could have caught has died of old age by now.

Bottom line Jimmy in all seriousness.... From one targeted team's fan to another.

If your team is competitive and your fans are passionate - Others will Hate.

Hey, again, as a Yankee fan, my whole life, again, in all seriousness, the self pitied, woah is me Red Sox fan that lived "The Curse" was harmless in a sort of cute and cuddly way... There was little rivalry at all.....Did you like THAT better????

As long as your not one of the Tools, enjoy it.

I would never call the original poster a "tool" because I don't even know who he is...but the original post was a "tool" post. :bag:  :hot:

Oy.

This thread has become a self-fulfilling example of what the OP targeted. Some foppish idouche named MrJimmy opined that Sox fans were receiving a disproportionate share of criticism. And a host of respondents essentially back this claim with monosyllabic, emoticon laden attacks lacking any proof.

Disregard the florid vocabulary and stick to the facts for a minute: apart from a very natural hatred of the New York Yankees, which MrJimmy does his best to keep in check, you will search long and hard to find a serious post that goes over the top in boastfulness, whininess, or other entitlements supposedly born to every Red Sox fan. MrJimmy is actually a fairly lucid Red Sox fan who enjoys many other teams for various reasons. In particular, he simply enjoys baseball without ever claiming to be any kind of authority or expert. He enjoys the aesthetic more than the sabermetric-unfortunately, fellow league members will be able to confirm.

YET....MrJimmy is assailed as a bandwagon hopping whiny tool who is ruining things for the true fans of this so-called Red Sox Nation. Apparently MrJimmy is obsessed with the single Sox championship in the last 90 years and cannot move beyond that event. He gets eaten by his drunken own. And so on. For the purposes of this board, none of this matters, but it does serve to reinforce the OP.

SO....in effect, the OP has proved to be perfectly legitimate and accurate.

* Frankly, disappointed more Sox fans don't speak in the third person. We've earned it.

So this reawlly has nothing to do with the Red Sox.

You just want to move into the (incorrectly) perceived upper tier of Red Sox fans on the forum then?

 I interpret it the other way around........ OP wants to set the bar higher.

ESPN's  Red Sox bias doesn't help this hate. Nor does the fact that most of you are doofuses.
:goodposting: I blame Bill Simmons for much of the Sox/Pats team/fans hate.

 for a high unintentional comedy score. What a piece of work.

Personally I blame fans of the rest of teams in baseball (except for the Yanks of course). In 2004, fans from other teams were tripping over themselves to run up and congratulate Sox fans over their four game comeback over the Yanks and their ending of their WS victory drought. I have a friend (a St. Louis fan born and raised on toasted ravioli, Malls BBQ sauce and Budweiser) who said he wasn't that upset that the Cards lost the WS because they lost it to the Sox. People were so happy to see the "Evil Empire" shamed that they failed to realize that they had just created a monster. A CLAM CHOWDAH EATING, SAM ADAMS DRINKING, RED SOCKED MONSTER!!!!!!!!!
