Red Zone network (1 Viewer)

Great channel but they seem to get fixated on certain games. We don't need to watch ravens browns in between the 20's.

They do this every week and I agree its dumb. They say they do it only for the big games (division games/close games/highscoring games) but you occasionally get stuck watching the Vikings try to play football.

But if someone gets inside the 20 they go there, so they do jump around. A little continuity sometimes isn't a bad thing, I think they balance it well.

Actually I cannot stand the Red Zone.

Two reasons.

a) Mostly because of Scott Hanson

b) It should just be a sequential continual running of all the TD's scored. It would be more interesting if they backed up a couple of plays perhaps to set the stage, but there is enough TD's each week to simply replay them.

I prefer to watch the games live, and would actually prefer a Red Zone beacon sort of function on the bottom of my NFL Sunday Ticket which showed which game had a team in the Red Zone like nfl.com does so that I can simply change the channel to that game if I want to.

I think they do a great job. Scott is not bad. Directv has their own guy and it is almost as boring as Thursday Night Football.

I agree its a great channel. But if there were 1 knock it would be their fixation on certain games. Yes that Rams 49er game was another RedZone obsession.

This channel is awesome if you are out at a bar, and just want to casually catch the games while shooting the #### with some friends, but at home, hell no. Being someone who doesn't have a short attention span, I like to watch an actual game. Sure, I'll flip back and forth during commercials and such, but the Red Zone channel would give me a headache pretty quickly.

Sure, they tend to zero in on certain games at times, but it's usually because they're close. SF/STL was within 1 score for most of the day which is why it won out for coverage. An added bonus is that if you're in an area where your team's game is locally blacked out, the blackout rules don't apply to red zone coverage so you still get to see parts of the game.

As long as there are people like Dierdorf, Siragusa, and Billick talking during live games, there will be a need for this type of service. Sadly, there is no Red Zone channel on Thursday nights.

I'm the same - its a background channel for me. If I'm doing something else but have the television on (like Sunday, putting together Star Wars legos all day w/my son) it works fine.

Getting Comcast today primarily for the NFL Red Zone Channel.
Missed the boat didn't you? Only one week left.
I did the same thing. In two championship games, I called Comcast at 12:55pm. It was on by 12:59. With a snowstorm outside, It was an awesome day of football. :grad: Would've been better with Eagles/Vikings, but oh well.ETA: It was 6.99 for the sports channels package.

For those complaining about Red Zone.... do you remember the days of adding up scores from Monday's sports section?? I do. This is light years just from those days, to me Red Zone is allllll good.

I remember when a remote control was a futuristic fantasy :( Now I have a smart phone, ipad, and wireless internet. Even an old fart programmer like me is amazed.

:lmao: I'm probably not too far behind ya in age. The first "remote" being a box of buttons with a cable running to the tv. Yesterday I watched two of my fantasy players score live in about 90 seconds. Oh how far we've come. :)

My first remote was my 5 year old son when I would tell him to switch the channels on the TV... and back then there were only 3 main stations with a couple of worthless VHF stations.

OP, do you ever have any positive thoughts?
i do but most of them involve PizzaDeliveryGal
Haha.As for Red Zone, I quite like it. Last week was the first time I've watched it nearly the entire time (couldn't stand to watch another Texans debacle) and it does seem like they stick to strange games unnecessarily but that's probably because we don't have players in there. To me it seemed like the Ten/KC game got a lot of coverage for a game that no one cared about anyway. Then again, if I had JC or C.Johnson then I might have found it more interesting... But I would like to see them flip from play to play if other games are on rather than just leaving it on one game.If you mainly watch one team, Red Zone is really excellent to flip to during commecial breaks or between plays if your team is not in the hurry up.
TEN/KC meant a lot to the AFC West playoff picture. TEN didn't give KC much need to punt either.

For me it really depends.

If there's an actual good game on, I'll watch the game (stream or TV). Otherwise, I'll just stream NFL Redzone.

To the people who don't like it because it's too jumpy: you would rather watch the 40 seconds of standing around doing nothing between plays and commercials rather than see the actual important action from each game?

My setup every Sunday (other than an annoying Thanksgiving & Christmas Sunday trip to my Wife's Grandma's House) is to have Red Zone on my 46 inch Sony, and then I moved my 32 inch Vizio from the bedroom out into the living room, where I have the Chiefs Game, and then whatever the late game is.

Makes for a spectacular Sunday every time, as I get to watch my local team's entire game, while keeping myself posted on all the goings on around the league on the other tv. Absolutely love it.

1st off, I love the red zone, however I have a question about Dish and their billing practice. Since my fantasy season ended this past weekend, I decided to take a trip and not watch much football this week. I had already paid my Dish network bill for the month of January and casually took a look at it. Seems that they billed me for the entire month of January with the RedZone only running one more week. While it's only $7 for the month, it just seems unethical to me. I called and canceled and will be issued a credit, however I just wonder if this billing practice of their's isn't against some type of federal regulation reguarding overbilling. Had it been for only $2 (1/4 of a month) I wouldn't care, but I just feel that this isn't legal somehow.

I have Dish and the amount I pay includes a sports pkg.......it isnt only for Redzone.

I got rid of my Sunday Ticket because of it.
 You do know that you could always watch one of the other 10+ channels with actual games on them, right?
:hot: But don't want to watch one game and try swtiching to other games, end up missing more that way. Red Zone does a much better job of switching between games than I could do. I also got rid of Sunday ticket because of Red Zone. I do end up just having one game going on a smaller TV, but the big screen is dedicated to Red Zone, awesome channel.
