Kerney on the move: When the Seahawks acquired defensive lineman Cory Redding in a March trade from the Detroit Lions (for the steep price of Pro Bowl linebacker Julian Peterson), it remained to be seen just what the coaches would do with him.

Coach Jim Mora spelled that out Saturday. If the team played a game today, Redding would be at left end, with Patrick Kerney sliding over to the right side.

I like the move for two reasons. First, it gets Redding’s bigger body (6-4, 292) on the left side to handle those double-team blocks from the tight end and a tackle. Even more importantly, it removes Kerney from taking on that task – a great move for a player who has had shoulder surgery three times in the past three seasons.

ugh... as a Tapp owner this is disheartening to say the least. I am hoping his high motor and desire to be great will allow him to push through this and retain his starting 3-down spot. He's pretty much battled through a lot of adversity and has always kept his spot.

I like Tapp's potential, but not starting will kill his value.

Redding should play both(moving inside on passing downs) and be in a rotation. Have to watch this and see how it works out.

In a tackle required league I keep losing defensive tackles to defensive ends.

Actually there's an argument to be made here that, if this news causes Tapp's ADP to plummet, he's a better sleeper than he was before. Kerney's frequently dinged, Tapp's played well in rotation before, he'll be seeing plenty of high leverage snaps on nickel downs with Redding moving to tackle and he'll have fresher legs when doing so. Tapp as a high upside DL3 is every bit as good a gamble as he was as a prospective starting DE with a high DL2 ADP.Painful for his hopeful dynasty owners no doubt, but this isn't a death sentence for his potential or his value.

I'm just about to take a DT in a start-up dynasty draft. 1 pt per tck, 2 for big plays, 6 per td, so very tck heavy. I've waited a while to take one so a lot are already off the board. I had earmarked Kyle Williams as my pick, but am wondering whether Redding is the better pick now. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If you're sure that Redding will stay at DT, then he's a great pick. If this is an MFL league, however, I wouldn't be at all confident that Redding isn't reclassified soon. He's been reported to move to DE multiple times over the offseason and Rotoworld's depth charts, which MFL uses as a default, have him listed DE.
