Does anyone have any good insight on the O-line here? Are they good enough to run Shanny's zone blocking scheme leading him to run the ball all day? Or is it a better pass protection group and we are going to see McNabb go off ala Cutler?
I'm not sure anyone knows. In recent history the answer has been rushing, but this is essentially an entirely new line. My
very early assessment is:LT - Trent Williams: passing (he's apparently been holding his own in 1:1's & scrimmages against Orakpo and everyone else, showing incredible balance and footwork)
LG - Derrick Dockery: rushing (typical for a guard, he's great pushing people around, but only OK pass blocking, albeit coordinating well with guys around him)
C - Casey Rabach: rushing (he's a pretty mediocre center overall; if not for his brains, he wouldn't be playing; he gets pushed back a lot pass blocking)
RG - Artis Hicks: rushing (he's a converted tackle, so his pass blocking isn't bad though)
RT - Jammal Brown: unsure (I'm still getting to know him and he's also recovering from an injury; he's solid over all and probably has a balanced game)
Shanny's scheme, though, seems to have as much to do with rushing success as it does with the particular strengths of individual players. We're still learning what it's all going to look like when it gets put in place.
