Why would the Lions want this guy, they already have injury prone running backs on the team, why add another. We also need to remember that while you can play on an ACL the year after you injure it, but it usually takes 2 years before you are back to normal.(Remember Brady wasn't really Brady in 2009 after his ACL, Welker has caught 100 passes every year with the Patriots except for the year after his ACL, Javon Walker was never the same after, and the list goes on and on. Hightower was an average NFL back when full healthy I can only image how bad he would be this year on a repaired ACL.

Shanahan said cutting Tim Hightower was “a tough decision,” but he hinted that the team might be interested in bringing Hightower back later this season if he is healthier.
