Redskins release Larry Johnson (1 Viewer)

I don't know who Howard Balzer is, but Rick Maese of Washington Post seems to confirm that LJ is on the way out... "Expected to take Larry Johnson's spot RT @ProFootballTalk Redskins have signed RB Chad Simpson, per league source."

Schefter's reporting it now too: "Redskins cut running back Larry Johnson and signed running back Chad Simpson. Need more help on special teams, which Simpson provides."

Does this move Keiland Williams to primary backup?
I doubt if Simpson would be made backup off the street.Picked up Keiland 2 weeks ago in my dynasty as this could be a possibility with Portis and LJ. Didn't think it would happen this fast but if he's available in your league snatch him up. Kid looks good and Shanny's already used him in game 2. (4 rec)

:lmao: K Williams will be a 3-down stud if given the starting opportunity.

Agent Peter Schaffer told the Washington Post that the Redskins told him the decision was a "short-term situation" relating to the team needing a roster spot.

Asked if the Redskins might re-sign Johnson, Schaffer said, "I don't know. There are no guarantees about anything in this league."

Redskins | Chad Simpson signs Tue Sep 21, 06:50 PM

The Washington Redskins signed free-agent RB Chad Simpson (Bills) to an undisclosed deal Tuesday, Sept. 21, according to The Washington Post's Jason Reid.

Darn it!!!!! I was targeting Keiland for pickup this week as well as D. Thomas!! Sigh! Now I will have to fight to get them on the Waiver wire.

Any chance the Packers pick up Larry?
I'd rather see Raji lining up as a RB. Probably faster than LJ, and definitely a better motor.

I remember back in '05 when he came in to replace Priest Holmes mid-season and carried my fantasy team on his back to win my league title. What a shame to see him go out like this.

Take away his 10 yard loss and he's averaging 2.4/carry. Not really much off normal. Hell Portis isn't much better.
Sadly (as a Portis owner), this is very true. There just aren't any holes to run through. I'm not sure Peterson would have much success behind Washington's O-line right now.

paging Coach Otis...
:hey: Opportunity knocks. He'd be devastating in Green Bay, as well as a few other spots that could use a half back...
:screech:
 I can think of several much more dynamic offenses that could use him right away.GBNEDENTo name a few. :eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:
Hawk move is hold then? :lmao:

whats the hawk move here?
K. Williams. Portis will get hurt or underperform at some point, then BAM! Game over. 3-down back attack. Book it.
Williams big fault has been his pass blocking. Portis excells at this, in fact the only reason the Redskins were able to pass for any kind of yards last week was because of Portis.Williams won't be too much of a factor until he improves his blocking.

Apparently the Redskins are having more trouble getting rid of Johnson than they anticipated. He got the news, cleaned out his locker, headed for the door, then turned and went the other way. Slowly.
