Here we go...

"Mark Berman of FOX 26 in Houston reports that the Redskins will work out free agent QB JaMarcus Russell Tuesday.

Russell has been spotted at the Redskins' practice facility, so it sounds like the report is legit. The Redskins are the first team to show any interest in the former No. 1 overall pick since he was cut loose by the Raiders. Russell, who has been working out in Houston with hopes of catching on with an NFL team, just had codeine possession charges dropped last week, so it's possible the 'Skins were just waiting for the quarterback's legal issues to be behind him. Stay tuned."

:goodposting: I'm guessing Shanahan's attempts to stroke McNabb's bruised ego haven't gone so well. That additional 3rd/4th round pick to the Eagles next year is guaranteed, right?
 
The guy's lost it. Not Russell, Shanahan. Russell never had it.

Mort is reporting that the Shannys have not been impressed with McNabb since training camp and wanted to bench him sooner. We've seen Randy Moss cut this week.... Is McNabb next??

Yup, and it only took Shanahan less then half a season to become annoyed with Donnie. We gave him 11 years, but we're labeled "unappreciative".I appreciated him for about 9 of those 11 years. Now I appreciate the draft picks.
 
Oh man it's going to be a long bye week for the Skins. In no way will Russel start over McNabb. Doesn't he have to learn the playbook?

 
They signing Jawalrus only because he'll eat most of the food before McNabb can get to it, hence getting McNabb in shape.

I actually see why Shanahan would want to be the guy to “resurrect” JaSizzurp. It would be the Ultimate middle finger to Al Davis. No better revenge than to take the biggest bust in history and make him a star. Not saying he could do it… just saying I see could see why he would want to try.

Jokes aside, I think this move makes sense. It's just a workout. Who knows, maybe he flashes a very small glimpse of why he was a high draft pick and they sign him for pennies to be the 2nd or 3rd string qb. Shanahan is pretty good at working with qb's, so there's no harm in taking a free look.

JaMarcus is FAT.I ran into him in the spring and almost didnt recognize him. That's how fat he had become.unless he has taken off about 30 pounds while waiting to sign a contract I have my doubts that he will be able to show anything at all. Even then.... I cant see a team wanting to sign someone who could let themselves go to this extent.

Scary how much sense that makes--if that's the primary driving force to Shanny then there's some serious issues there.
 
Are there that many John Beck fans in here that think his position is unassailable? I don't see the problem with bringing him in for a work out. It does not cost the Skins anything. Teams probably bring in ten players for a workout for every one that they sign (making that number up, so no link).

 
I agree with giving some players second chances and sometimes a change of scenery is all that's needed. But JaMarcus doesn't deserve any more chances. Any time spent on this guy will be a waste of time.
