Refrigerators, Fridges, reviews and opinions (1 Viewer)

So I need thoughts on refrigerators.  We have been talking about getting a new one, and after having some work done in our kitchen last week (which involved moving the fridge) the current unit is not cooling very well and the compressor is running constantly. 

So wife (no pics) and I went to Lowe's yesterday and looked at refrigerators for almost 2 hours.  Here's what 'we' want.  French style four door, two doors on top, temp adjustable external drawer in middle w/ freezer on bottom.  Also has to be counter depth, just for the added pain in the ### that causes.  

So we really like whirlpool but for some reason they don't make 4 door counter depth.  So we've narrowed it down to LG and Samsung.  The LG is $700 more for comparable features, but the reviews online for the Samsung complain of noise, bad ice makers, and other little stuff.  The LG has minimal complaints and is supposed to be very quiet.

tl/dr:  opinion/reviews on LG or Samsung (counter depth) fridges?

We have this one.  It comes in counter depth as well.  Love it, but I read the same reviews you did and, yes, the ice maker is a little annoying.  It's a little on the slower side to dispense, but it's not THAT big of a deal.  

The showcase door was an option we thought was cool, but "how practical is it really?".  Turns out it is very practical.  I'd say over 50% of the time we need something in the fridge, we just open the showcase door (beer, condiments, milk, etc).

Btw, I don't understand how they can charge more for a counter depth fridge considering it has less capacity of the same exact fridge with normal depth.

My Samsung is about a year old and no complaints at all.  Love that it is huge and I don't have to screw around trying to make everything fit.

We didn't buy a counter depth 11 years ago because they were more expensive.  We're doing it now.  They have always been more expensive, I think its because they are less common.  

Thanks for your thoughts on the showcase door.  I can see using it but I'm not as sold on it as I am on the 'deli drawer' on the models I've linked.

I didn't know either.  I put both in the title to help w/ searches.  I did search for a similar topic before creating this one, and got nothing...
