Reggie Brown the Donald Driver type (1 Viewer)

Donald Driver has always seems like one of the most undervalued guys in fantasy, but surpsisingly he puts up numbers every single year. The year that Javon Walker became the #1 receiver for Favre, Driver very quietly remained a top 12 receiver..

I'm starting to think that Reggie Brown can play the part of Donald Driver. He had a very nice end of his 2005 campaign with former RU standout Mike McMahon at the helm and has continued with 5 solid games in 2006.

I've watched 3 Eagles games and it was obvious that Stalworth's deep threat became the instant offense McNabb was looking for since he lost TO... but quietly Reggie Brown has continued to post solid numbers and in the games that Stalworth did not play Brown put up great numbers and in the game that Stalworth was hindered his #'s were steady.

both of their #'s through 5 games

my main concern is that Brown's catches were minimal (although they were for TD's) in games that Stalworth has been 100%, so if/when Donte comes back he might suffer some in production.. It looks like Stalworth (with a tear in the hamstring) will probably not be 100% in the forseeable future, which only bodes well for Brown.. I think you are in good shape if you can start Brown in the next few weeks..

The funny thing is that during the Giant game with Stalworth in the mids of two huge games, the announcers on Fox said that McNabb still considers Reggie Brown his #1 receiver. I was obviously not happy to see that Stalworth had taken all the yards from Brown but was at least happy to hear that McNabb still saw him as his #1 (this could just be QB Speak to keep his receivers happy but never-the-less)

Reggie Brown seems like he can be that unheralded 2nd option in an offense which right now is one of the best passing offenses in the NFL and in situations where the other receiver is out, he has taken an even bigger part to the offense.

Eagles fans might be better ones to chime in here, since they have presumably watched all five games..

I like Reggie Brown a lot. Smart kid, very athletic and he has very good speed as well. I feel he will be a solid WR2 for years to come. Donte Stallworth will never stay healthy. Never.

Stalworth's health and the fact that there is an option for him to become a free-agent next year gives me big hope for brown as a good 2nd year receiver in a young/good offense

I made a thread on this guy a little while back...

Basically, I view him as a sell high right now. Nothing to do with his ability...it's just that McNabb spreads the ball around so much that none of their WRs are really reliable. Brown has had a few weeks that would've been duds were it not for TDs, and he can't score one every week.

However, as long as Stallworth is out, he should remain a borderline WR2. That's his biggest competition for balls. But I don't think he'll be out too much longer, hence my sell-high opinion.

Depending on the situation, you may be able to get, say, a Lee Evans straight up for him. I'm currently trying to package him in a deal for Tatum FWIW.

Brown will put up 1200 yards? I don't think so.

I've watched a good deal of Brown this year and last and I think he has definite potential. This was the guy that the Eagles were going to go into the season with as their #1. But they didn't... and for good reason.

Not to take anything away from Brown, but obviously he's not up to #1 status yet. He's had his fair share of drops this year and has made a few rookie mistakes (like coming back for the ball, etc). The problem with Eagles receivers is that, other than the #1 guy, it's a crapshoot for who's going to put up the #2 numbers of the game. Could be Brown, Smith, Baskett, Lewis, Westy... Brown will keep putting up decent numbers esp with Stallworth out but I doubt he'll be top 12 this year. Maybe next year...

Happy with his production, but it seems a bit fluky right now. Not catching many passes, getting the TDs though which will eventually drop off.

If he keeps getting 2-4 balls a game, his production will be minimal.

Brown would not have to put up 1200 yards to be Driver type... Driver's yards did not come till later in his career.. Driver2002 70/1064/9 WR10 in fantasy2003 52/621/2 injury2004 84/1208/9 WR10 in fantasy2005 86/1221/5 WR13 in fantasy

I went over Reggie Brown's last 16 games played

his last 11 games in 2005: 35/518/4

his first 5 games in 2006: 15/291/3

total: 50/809/7

for a guy who only hase 21 NFL games under his belt, that is pretty decent.

he's had the following 'big' games already

5/94/1

3/88/1

6/69/0

7/77/2

5/106/0

4/79/1

Going back to his College days, his hands have always been a problem. He broke a lot of Ga Bulldogs fans hearts, with his inopportune drops & in his second year in the Pros,he continues his brick hand ways. Not good.

Reggie has the following targets/Receptions this year:wk1 6/2wk2 2/1wk3 12/5wk4 10/3wk5 6/4Thats 42%. I thought maybe its because he gets alot of lower percentage long balls, but maybe not?

I was a Brown owner in dynasty last year, and I really was very high on him until I watched him play a couple times -- and drop a lot of passes.I think that could be his biggest issue.

well.. add his 6/121/1 plus 1/15/1 to his totals this year..last 10 games in 2005: 34/507/4 plus 1/5/0 first 6 games in 2006: 21/412/4 plus 1/15/1his last 16 games he has 919 yards receiving and a total of 9 TD'snot bad

I've mentioned it a few times in threads about eagle receivers.

I was watching the Giant-Eagle game and the announcers for the game (i think it was the Aikman team) were saying that although Stalworth had been the top receiving option in game 1 that McNabb still considered Brown his #1 receiver. At the time I thought.. that was just McNabb not wanting to sound like he lost confidence in Reggie Brown but I have to think that the last few games have given McNabb a lot of confidence in Brown to (at least) be a 1b option if not more

I'd also be concerned with a speed receiver like Stalworth and his leg injuries already this year. Hamstring injuries tend to linger

Happy to see it today, but I'm still concerned about him once Stallworth comes back. I mean let's be real people, they still have Westbrook, Stallworth and Smith. There's going to be more 2 catch weeks.

Hope I'm wrong.

I don't disagree but Reggie Brown has quietly become the #1 option in the passing offense (not counting Westbrook who will always get his)..unofficially Reggie Brown had 8 targets this week (he had 11, 7 and 6 in the last three weeks)that is 32 targets in the last four weeks.. which is all you can ask for out of a receiver..

he is the #3 receiver in our league right now... behind Holt by about 20 points and behind Coles by less than 1 point.

I too like Brown and his potential, but remember part of why Driver is so undervalued is people always forget to look at his targets every year... he consistently (when healthy) gets lots of targets, something that Brown has yet to receive, even with Stallworth out. I think he can develop into a really nice WR, but for this year, his lack of targets is going to limit him unless he keeps catching as many TDs as he has (which for all I know he may).

:bowtie:Stallworth clearly the top guy here. Sucks I'm stuck with Brown in two leagues.

Stallworth looks like the #1, but McNabb went deep to Brown a couple of times, he just didn't catch them -- he grabs a bomb or 2 and his stats look similar to Stallworth's...

McNabb went to Brown deep alot today as well. It just so happened Stallworth made the big play. I expect them to be a 1A & 1B guy from here on out and considering the contract extension and considering Stallworths constant injuries, Browns the guy Id rather have.
