I just traded for Reggie Bush and I am pretty excited about the rest of his season! In an attempt to keep this thread clean and coherent I ask that all haters refrain from posting!
run into the Oline or directly out of bounds like he has been doing all year?I just traded for Reggie Bush and I am pretty excited about the rest of his season! In an attempt to keep this thread clean and coherent I ask that all haters refrain from posting!
If Bush can still walk...I am quite pessimistic about his chances. The guy cannot run around the edges, still spends too much time dancing, and is afraid of contact. I think he's going to have a long season if he's not out by week 10.Edit to add: And if I were in a PPR league, I'd try to move him ASAP on his name. His value (catching passes out of the backfield) could take a serious hit if he's asked to shoulder the running between the tackles load. Stecker would then be the 3rd down back taking his valuable catches.I am in a point per reception league. I am happy the Saints are on a bye so they can get their offense worked out! Bush is a huge add to my team. I will start Bush and put LJ on my bench. Come playoff time when I have Bush and LJ I will be sitting pretty.
I agree. And to me, Bush looks like he is a step slower this year. I just do not see the explosion like he had last year and at USC (granted, facing lesser talent).A buddy of mine was wondering if he added some weight trying to be a more complete back, but it instead cost him some of his trademark explosiveness. If Bush can still walk...I am quite pessimistic about his chances. I love how everyone assumes that they are going to change to a single back system now that Deuce us gone. I would be willing to bet that Bush doesn't get more than half the carries this week. He will have more than half the touches, but I think the carries are going to be split with the rest of the backs....He'll easily average 150 combined yards plus 1.5 TD per game from here on out.
I was not aware that he was slated to play every down. Where is this coming from? Is there a link?I just traded for Reggie Bush and I am pretty excited about the rest of his season! In an attempt to keep this thread clean and coherent I ask that all haters refrain from posting!
Based on what? He'll easily average 150 combined yards plus 1.5 TD per game from here on out.

He have to learn to run between the tackles for this to happen, and I question if he can handle 20 carries a game with all the dancing etc., he does. I would say sell HIGH NOW on Reggie. He'll easily average 150 combined yards plus 1.5 TD per game from here on out.
It is wise to run out of bounds for the sake of his career??? Am i missing something here!!! This guy was paid to run the football NOW, to say nothing of the fact that the Saints gave him the most lucrative rookie contract in the history of the league. Yet, he wants to run out of bounds before the slightest inkling on contact so he can play a few more years!!! Audacity I say. Instead of acting like a prima donna, start playing football like someone who has something to prove. I personally think he should stop dancing around like a ballarina and prove something to his teammates, his coach, his fans and mostly to himself.Bush was on Sirius yesterday and was of course very positive about carrying the load full-time. They talked about him running out of bounds and I actually agree that it is wise for two reasons:1. Extends his career by not taking unnecessary contact for 1-2 yards (see Shaun Alexander)2. As has a rep for doing this, every now and then he can bust it back in and get big gains (if you believe he has breakaway speed still)Funny thing at the end, the asked him if it was good to play against LenDale. He said "Yea, we are like brothers, real tight. But I asked him what happened to him because the guy has put on some pounds".
I would agree. Bush's value may be the highest it can be. If he goes out after the bye and gets 10 carries, 6 receptions and has the same Yards per Carry and Catch he has had all season even if he gets into the endzone his value will drop....His value is high simply because he has not yet "carried the load" which I don't think he will do...He have to learn to run between the tackles for this to happen, and I question if he can handle 20 carries a game with all the dancing etc., he does. I would say sell HIGH NOW on Reggie. He'll easily average 150 combined yards plus 1.5 TD per game from here on out.
fyi - Westbrook already did this. It's time for Bush to revolutionize the RB position...and it starts this weekend.Enjoy the show everyone, i know i will.
I'm a big Bush fan, but I'm tempering expectations. But it's not because I have doubts of Bush's talents.Rather that whole team is a mess. And it starts at the O-line and QB. Brees is so bad this year he is getting his players injured with his inability to throw a simple lob pass with any accuracy.Until Brees can sort it out, that whole offense is just out of sync.As far as folks who doubt Bush can take the full load, what is this based on? He has never been seriously injured. He doesn't take himself out of games. He doesn't get hit hard and take awhile to get up. Is this simply an assumption bc he was in a RBBC at USC with another first round talent RB? Or that he shared the load with an All Pro 1st round RB in the NFL?Just because Bush was in those situations doesn't mean he automatically can't handle 20 carries a game. People talk as if he is some sort of fragile porcelain mouse. He's still an NFL RB. He's 6' 200 lbs.The guy Bush always reminds me of is Thurman Thomas. His 5'10 200 lbs frame held up well.

I agree. It would be revolutionary for Bush to re-define the role of a RB as a guy sitting on his couch watching games. That would be something. It's time for Bush to revolutionize the RB position...and it starts this weekend.Enjoy the show everyone, i know i will.
why, because Brian Westbrook catches the ball out of the backfield? as a rookie, Reggie had more receptions and receiving yards than Westbrook has had in any season.what did you give up to get him? Bush is supremely overrated so I hope it wasn't much. Reggie Bush is quickly showing that he will not be a strong NFL RB. To be a Westbrook typ back is where Bush's aspirations should lie. If he can become 50% of the back westbrook is, then he should be happy. Reggie Bush is not who we thought Reggie Bush was.
Why does everyone question his ability to run between the tackles? Didn't he score his second TD easily down the middle? Just because he's ner HAD to run between the tackles (in collegs as well), doesn't mean he never did and that he CAN'T. Bottom line is noone knows becuase he hasn't had the chance to do so regularly. In a way, the postive side of Deuce getting hurt (not that I wanted him to - i'm deuce owner) is that he got hurt early in the season and it gives NO a chance to see how Bush handles "being the man".I would agree. I have Bush as my RB2 in a PPR, so I am OK with him so far. Now, that said, New Orleans has looked atrocious, but that may get better. They played the 3-0 Colts, 2-1 Titans (lost to Colts) and 2-1 Tampa Bay, who have given up only 15 points per game. They unfortunately don't get the Lions, Giants, Browns or Bengals, but the rest of the schedule seems a little better including 7 home games to 6 road ones.I hope he does well and I think that he will improve, but who knows how much. In PPR leagues, his 5+ receptions per game make up for a good amount of lack of production.I think he'll do well. A lot of the people who bash him aren't that familiar with his game. I watched him a lot in college and am pretty confident that he'll do well with a heavy load of carries. His strength is pretty underrated and he has the nimble feet and quick first step needed to slam it up the middle. He's not a a power back, but he has enough leg strength to get by. In terms of build, playing style, and potential he's similar to Tiki Barber. It might be tough to find running room if Brees continues to struggle, but I expect Reggie to capitalize on this opportunity assuming that the Saints give him the ball 15-20 times instead of messing around with Stecker or Thomas. I think this season has been a reality check for Bush. He has been on easy street for the past few years. He played on monster teams at USC that steamrolled almost all of their opponents. His Saints team went to the NFC championship game. Things have just been too easy for him. Now he's facing some adversity and I expect him to respond.
How old are you? Have you never seen Barry Sanders play? I'm not comparing Bush to sanders but in a way they have certain similarities. Sanders woould get stopped behind the line of scrimmage quite often because of his "dancing" but he made everyone look foolish when he was able to break out into the open. I think Bush has that same explosiveness and game-breaking ability. My guess is a lot of dancing around behind the line and missing opportunities to hit a hole. That, and a 2-1 ratio of runs for a gain and runs for a loss

Have you seen Reggie Bush play? Sure he can dance and move like Sanders in the open field but a blind Barry Sanders would have better awareness and vision than Bush has at this point in his career. Its ugly to watch him run, he runs into his blockers, makes the wrong cuts, and misses holes. The RB position is not always about who has the better juke moves or speed....sometimes all you need is to be patient and make the smart move...but Bush is young and the season is only 3 games in so we'll see what happensHow old are you? Barry Sanders was dropped for a loss allot in his career... true. Barry had powerful legs and could break tackles if he wasn't making u miss all together. Bush goes down if anyone breathes on him. Barry didn't dance nearly as much as Bush does... he would allot of times cut back or reverse the direction of the play to make things happen with a terrible Lions OL. Bush dances around then runs up the backs of his OL.How old are you? Have you never seen Barry Sanders play? I'm not comparing Bush to sanders but in a way they have certain similarities. I have Bush too in 3 leagues, but not that crazy he will be the main RB. This will wear him down or get him hurt faster since he's not used to it yet or possible not able to carry the load with that bad OL.I just traded for Reggie Bush and I am pretty excited about the rest of his season! In an attempt to keep this thread clean and coherent I ask that all haters refrain from posting!
I agree. Barry Sanders may have been dropped for a loss a lot but he also had a ton of 20-80 yard carries. Bush's longest career carry to this point is 18 yards, which is ridiculous. To his credit he has some long TDs receiving and some long returns, but I haven't seen the jaw dropping moves from him on the ground to put him in the same neighborhood as Barry Sanders.Barry routinely spun out of tackles, broke arm tackles, and left defenders quite literally grasping at air. Barry also almost never was taken down one-on-one or took a big hit from a defender; Bush has displayed nowhere near those moves at this point in his career. To be honest with you, he reminds me a lot more of Lawrence Phillips running the ball.Barry Sanders was dropped for a loss allot in his career... true. Yeah, seems the problem is that there's only one Barry Sanders. I don't know if Phillips is a better comparison, but I'm sure we can think of a scat-back type without the ridiculous sense of balance, low center of gravity, and incredible vision of Barry Sanders. I traded for Reggie before last week hoping to buy low, my expectations have gone up with McAllister's unfortunate injury, but I would really like to see more north-south running out of Bush...I agree. Lawrence Phillips with a bit of Kijana Carter mixed in? Ok maybe thats taking it too farTo be honest with you, he reminds me a lot more of Lawrence Phillips running the ball.
and sometimes you just need someone on your team to actually make a block.I really can't pass any judgment on any Saints skill players yet because their line and blocking has been so horrendous this year.It wouldn't matter if Brady, Moss, and Barry Sanders were there, they'd be getting swarmed the minute the ball was snapped too.The Saints, as a team, are in disarray right now. Their blocking has been about the worst in the NFL and because they've been pressing, their playcalling has been very suspect. If ever a team needed an early bye week, this is it.and it is a shame that Bush is being compared to Barry Sanders. It's unfair to both of them.Have you seen Reggie Bush play? ... he runs into his blockers, makes the wrong cuts, and misses holes. I think you hit the nail on the head with the line play and the playcalling. Payton has been calling the game like he's playing in the MAC. Too cute for his own good. He just needs to line his boys up and put a hat on a hat and see what happens.Someone else posted the thought somewhere that the league is now prepared and ready for all his cute little gimmick plays and its just not the same as 07.and sometimes you just need someone on your team to actually make a block.I really can't pass any judgment on any Saints skill players yet because their line and blocking has been so horrendous this year.It wouldn't matter if Brady, Moss, and Barry Sanders were there, they'd be getting swarmed the minute the ball was snapped too.The Saints, as a team, are in disarray right now. Same thing he's been doing all year...........................The guy is a beefed up Metcalf
You forget how scary a beefed up Metcalf in his prime might have been.Same thing he's been doing all year...........................The guy is a beefed up MetcalfMaybe the best analogy thus far....
I think I'd rather have a bag of Freedom Fries. If Deuce can't produce behind that line, I don't expect a lesser back to do any better. Go get the Steckers and the Pierre's from the WW and tell yourself you've caught lightning in a bottle. Then sit him on your bench and start your real players. And don't forget to congratulate the guy who did get lightning in a bottle. You'll get it one day. Happens every year.Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the Saints turn it around. I just don't think inspiration is coming off the bench.I want everyone here to come back and thank me later for telling you now, GO GET PIERRE THOMAS!
I don't recall ever using "lightning in a bottle" in describing Thomas. I said "go get him". In my league (12 teams, 2RB, 4WR/TE, TE, Flex) if your touching the ball even a few times every week, you've got major value. My reasoning behind my plea to pick him up is that he WILL be carrying the ball enough to roster him. Bush will not be asked to take all of Mac's touches, Stecker is too valuable on special teams, and Thomas has the frame and so far proven he has talent (albeit preseason). No, I'm not saying he's going to outplay my "real players" but if you can afford to ignore a guy that will carry the ball on a weekly basis and get considerable looks in the red zone, then your team must be looking pretty good. Side note- Are we really ready to claim that the NO offense won't figure this out and get at least close to last year's form?I think I'd rather have a bag of Freedom Fries. If Deuce can't produce behind that line, I don't expect a lesser back to do any better.
