Reggie Bush Update (1 Viewer)

I think Bush could have a big year. He is going to get a shot to be the main ball carrier, Thomas has not looked good so far IMO.
Hey Slap,Agree that Thomas does not look good at all. In fact I would say that he could easily be a bust. he is one of the worst looking rookies at RB drafts that high that I have seen in some time. I'm not sure what the coaches thought they saw but he looks awful to this point. That said go and look at Reggie's numbers in an offensive explosive system with great talent around him, a good front office and coaching staff, and he was a turd for the most part. I just cannot see him staying healthy all year and he was running East West in the last game, not a good sign.
Yeah, he is not without his risks here. My thinking is that he is going to get every opportunity to be the guy getting the rock and, atleast in the preseason game I've watched, he seems like he's hungry to prove himself. Catching the ball out of the backfield is his strength and he should get a lot of targets with Henne at the helm. Obviously, injuries are the big concern. Still I think a healthy OL and a healthy Reggie has about as high of an upside as you can get at his ADP. Maybe its the homer glasses. ;)

Reggie will be the quintessential boom/bust guy in 2011. Assuming he stays healthy (that will be typed a lot in this thread), he's going to post some clunkers and he's going to throw up a handful of games with monster stats.

If you can still get him late, then he makes the PERFECT flex guy in PPR leagues (where you can afford the clunkers and shoot for the upside).

Highly possible that he wears down or gets hurt and eventually gives way to an improving Daniel Thomas (can the kid possibly be THAT bad? I haven't watched him enough to know). But I'm betting ends up a pleasant surprise for everyone who took a chance on him in early drafts.
I agree. Seems in PPR leagues he is being undervalued. We all know of the injury risk and inability to run over people but the guy is talented and has the opportunity to be a featured back. I also think that the Fins need a name to draw fan interest and Bush is the man. They will ride him until he either gets hurt or falls flat on his face.
I read somewhere about the fans chanting "Reg-gie! Reg-gie!" during one of the pre-season games. A lot of people wanting him to succeed there I'm sure.

Look, you can throw all the stats out from New Orleans you want. The fact is he has never really been a feature back which he will be this year.
Well I'm pretty sure that New Orleans was hoping he would be their feature back when they spent the No. 2 overall pick on him. There's a reason he "has never really been a feature back" though.ETA: I still think he can be a useful player in ppr leagues, I'm just not so sure that his carries don't start to dwindle when he shows once again that he's not a capable feature back at this level.

At the end of 2009 he was very determined and was running like I'd never seen him run in the pros... up the middle, lowering his head and plowing over people.

After seeing that I figured he'd be overrated in 2010 and sure enough he was drafted much higher then he should have been but what I saw in 2010 was basically New Orleans going back to the normal "status quo" with PT & Reggie, it was as if they had already previously decided they were going to split things up and that would be that.

If he really gets the opportunity in Miami to be the feature then you have to at least take a chance on the guy at his current ADP! I luckily got him two weeks ago in one league before his ADP started to rise.

The more I think about it, the more I see Reggie Bush putting up numbers similar to Ronnie Brown with the Dolphins over the past few years.

I see Brown's rushing total from last year as expected rushing totals IF Reggie stays healthy all year

200 734 5

I think Bush's ceiling rushing would be closer to Brown's 2008 ceiling, with maybe a reduction on the TD numbers.

214 916 10

The X factor for me is the reception total. Last year Ronnie put up

33 242

I am thinking Bush can double that

66 484

Giving Bush a year of something like.

200-750-5TD, with 66-484-3 receiving for a total of 237.4 points in PPR

Based on these numbers he would be a top 15 back. The question is if he stays healthy enough to play 16. On a PPG/avg he would still be giving you 15/ppg not all that shabby. The other key is what round you get him.

Completely agree with this post.. I definitely think he can be huge this year if he stays healthy... It is his job to lose...

I own Reggie. He's currently on my bench, but he will get his share of starts for me this year if he does well early on and can stay healthy.

BUT- no way do I trust a guy like that in the money weeks 14, 15, 16.

Has Reggie Bush lived up to his lofty draft position? No. Has he been a successful NFL player? Yes. The guy has to be accounted for on every snap. Sean Payton often used him as a decoy and it often worked. He was a big part of several Saints teams and Reggie made a lot of big plays for them over the course of multiple seasons. The last two years he has battled injuries and had off the field distractions derail his career a little bit.

So now he has a second chance, an actual starting job in the NFL, and by all accounts, has been working hard to get better and prove himself to the doubters. I personally don't think Henne is as much of a trainwreck as he is portrayed and the Dolphins defense will be at worst average and may end up being pretty darn good. If the offensive line can gel, there's a window here for Reggie to break out and have a big, big season.

And yes, I drafted him as my RB3 in the 6th round of a 12 team non-PPR.

The PPR play on Miami is Davone Bess.Thank me after your championship.
See im not buying the Bess Koolaid Can u explain to me why he is anything other than WW material. His QB situation still sucks.9 Scores last season under 10 Points in my 0.5 PPR League last year.
