Reggie Bush (1 Viewer)

Reggie Bush was back in his element Wednesday.

Camera crews mobbed his locker. Reporters thrust mics and lights in his face and peppered him with questions for nearly an hour during the New Orleans Saints' media session.

He was the topic of conversation in press conferences for both coaches as they prepared for Saturday's NFC wild-card playoff game between the Saints and Seattle Seahawks.

With backfield mates Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory now sidelined for the rest of the season, Bush suddenly is the feature back for the Saints as they begin their quest for a second Super Bowl championship.

Not the scat back.

Not the utility back.

Not the factor back.

He's THE back.

And judging by the kilowatt smile he brandished for the media mob, he's relishing the newfound opportunity.

"I'm excited," Bush said. "Knowing that my number is going to be called a lot more this game, I'm looking forward to it."

He just sprained his shoulder even THINKING about shouldering the load. For a guy that shows flashes of greatness, he just can't quite deliver long term.

For those in keeper leagues who own him this is a great opportunity to hopefully see how he does this week. It might also be a chance to show the coaching staff what he can do as a runner instead of just a scatback. It will be nice to watch him and hopefully the Saints knock out the Seahawks and Pete Carroll.

I'd bet even $$$ that Julius Jones gets more carries than Reggie on Saturday
:goodposting: I will be surprised if #1 Bush gets more than 10 carries and #2 is the leading rusher for NO this week. Payton will either air it out a ton or use J.Jones like Ivory.

No question. Someone mentioned earlier the saints signed joique bell and deshawn dynn as well. Sounds like they're just gonna run draws and counters with whatever guy is healthy, and probably use Reg as the situational back- as usual. To be fair he did play well last season in the playoffs. The guy gets hurt getting off the team bus though. Too bad because he's such a "talented athlete.". If there was like a national flag football league where he'd never get hit, he'd be a lock top 5 pick every year in the fantasy drafts for it.

If I remember correctly, the guy ran really hard in the playoffs last year. He's in a contract year and has a chance to show up big in the playoffs.

Sean Payton would have to be a moron to use these guys off the street over Bush in the playoffs. No way is he that dumb. Reggie ran pretty hard last week, i think he is the guy....

Reggie is capable of having a big game if he gets going. You can check some Bush threads from last year here on the forum where it appeared to many, myself included that he finally learned how to run straight ahead to the hit instead on out of bounds or trying to juke out the defender. He did make a step last year in that direction. His durability is his undoing and he will not be able to be a "Workhorse' of a back for this reason. Maybe this game but against Atlanta or Chicago? I doubt it. I do see increased role for Reggie who will likely be on the field most of the time and he has to seize his spot light now. It will not likely come again at least not as part of the Saints unless he is taking a huge pay cut to be a utility player. If he proves his real worth as a running back he knows that all changes. I can think of only a few more desirable defenses for Reggie to get this shot against than the Seahawks and his former coach. Stay healthy Reggie and hold on to the ball.
