Reggie Wayne apologists (1 Viewer)

I know it's only Week 3 this weekend, but I've got to vent my perennial concerns about Wayne. For each of the past 3 years I have drafted him in a good to decent value round "knowing" that he was going to be the stud receiver of the colts' corps. My faith proved fruitful in 04 w/ the 12 jackpots and I was shocked the following year when he fell to me in the 4th round of my favorite redraft league.

Marvin Harrison is an unbelievable receiver and there is can be no doubt that he is also Peyton's first glance when he is pressured. And while I am looking at last week's 135 yards on 6 catches, I still have this awful feeling that we might not see 10 plus tds again. Was 04 an anomaly? I sure hope last year was. I gotta believe he's closer to 12 than 5 this year. Anyone share my feelings here?

105 views and not a single reply. is that a record?

is there anyone out there concerned about wayne's td grabs? what do you predict for the remainder of this season.

Week 1 on the road in NY. Had a catch pushed out at the 2.

Week 2 6/135 and had a TD called back on a penalty.

He is every bit the equal to Marvin in the passing scheme. Your title of the post seems to push for "apologists" to have to defend Reggie.

My best suggestion for you is to lie down, take a sedative, and chill the #$&% out!

Reggie will get his. If you drafted him to be a top 5 WR, then that is your fault.

He is a top 10 WR. Most teams would be happy to have him.

Wayne has had 4 catches end between the 1-4 yard lines this year so far. So as is the nature of Tds... he didn't luck into scoring on those plays, but in the future he might get the extra yard or two for the Td. You can't really control it. Just know, he is getting his touches. If he wasn't getting catches/yards, then I'd worry.

I was one of the people panicking at the beginning of last year when the Colts came out very conservatively and wanted to sit on the ball to take the pressure off their defense. I had Manning and started out 0-4-1, largely due to my best player not performing as expected. As down as I was on the Colts passing O at this time last year, I'm severely EXCITED about it right now: When Manning's bombing away in the last 3 minutes of a blowout (had to LOVE getting 4 bills on the NOSE last week!), that's a damned good sign for what to expect in the weeks ahead.

As far as Wayne goes, he's a STUD receiver in what is year in, year out one of the best passing offenses in the history of the NFL. Harrison may keep Wayne from putting up the MONSTER #'s, but you knew that when you drafted him. Things look ALL good for him right now: He's healthy, the Colts schedule, as usual, doesn't impact him negatively, Manning is money in the bank. Seems to me that Wayne's a LOCK for 1200+ yards and 9+ TD's.

BTW, Wayne and Harrison both were stopped inside the 5 on 20+ yard pass plays last week. I know 'close' doesn't mean much, but if you're truly concerned about the TD's, I really wouldn't be. They will come. The Colts play action is absolutely devastating during the regular season, and Wayne will be on the receiving end of many of Manning's strikes.
