Reggie Wayne Torn ACL, comfirmed (1 Viewer)

Yikes. I'd assume that means this is his retirement? If I were him and had as long and successful career as this, I wouldn't bother trying to come back.

Very rough week for injuries.

From a fantasy perspective, I'd have to imagine this is a huge bump to DHB, but not much of a real effect on anybody else. Maybe a slight downgrade to Luck?

I would rehab with the team before making that decision. The minute he announces retirement, doctors and trainers stop caring whether he comes back 100%

They showed a graphic on consecutive games played and he was right up there within 10 more starts of catching Tim Brown for all time iron-man title. Damn shame. Always loved seeing #87 do his thing.

Agree that the title is speculative, but have to feel that it's true with Schefter reporting it.
Yes since he was so accurate with Cobb's injury last week. Though I do agree based on Wayne's reaction.
Honestly, when I saw the injury I immediately reacted the same way I did when Sam Bradford got hurt with the reaction of:

"Jesus, that's a torn ACL"

I'm no doctor or anything but I've watched enough football to see a torn ACL when it happens. Wayne's entire knee cocked sideways on a non-contact hit and he went completely limp from the pain and didn't catch the ball. A pass he makes 999/1000 if he doesn't tear his ACL in the process.

Schefter doesn't always get them right, but he has pretty good insight. If nothing else, as you and others said based on Reggie's reaction, I don't think it will be anything short of a multi-week injury.

Actually, all Shefter is reporting is what the team doctors said on the sideline. Can only credit him for having a source, but if it's the wrong diagnosis, blame would fall to the doctors.

Indy should have traded for nicks instead of trent. They still can go after nicks and I would think they could use the help if wayne is done. Sorry to see that injury to wayne.

I hope they do. Nicks is walking next year anyways, would love to get something in return. Not sure I see it though considering they already gave up their 1st round pick. Can't see them giving up their 2nd or 3rd for a guy like Nicks who clearly has had injury concerns throughout his whole career.

Damn! Thanks for everything, Reggie!

Is Gordon from Cleveland in play here? I mean these two teams were just trading partners.

With how that first trade is looking I'm feeling like the Colts would be strictly against trading with the Browns right now

Eh, sad and everything, but he should probably just retire.

This really is an inconvenience for me. Now I have to go pick someone up.

I understand we are waiting to confirm it with an MRI, but sadly there is a 99 percent chance it is a torn ACL. When my husband torn his ACL he went and seen his doctor and he pulled on the knee a certain way and pushed a certain way and he said I am 90 percent sure you torn your ACL, then ordered the MRI to confirm. The doctors these teams employ are probably some of the best in the world, I am sure they told him the same thing the doctor told my husband.

It sucks for him too he is playing well at 35, on a team that is a legit contender.

I wish him the best. He's a guy that always seemed to come through and often he was under the radar. A lot of those years with Harrison he was a sneaky WR2 play, and last year he was great value at a WR3 price. If I had to guess, he's the player who has been on more of my ff teams over the years than anyone else.

Browns insist that Gordon isn't for sale, although I'm sure if the price is right, you never know.
After giving up their 1st for TRich, I can't see the Colts giving their 2nd up as well, which is the minimum it would take.

I expect Nicks for a late rounder is a more likely target.

A late round offer for Nicks wouldn't even come close to getting it done.

We'll never see him play again. In my opinion. If it was preseason, maybe. At his age, this is very likely to carry well into the 2014 season. I doubt he even bothers.

He'll be back next season. Guy is a warrior.
There's a very short list of players coming back from an ACL at 36.
Add him to it.
I can see him trying to come back - how effective he'll be is a whole other matter. The Colts have to think long and hard to finding a true go-to WR if they feel Hilton is not going to be that guy.
Not too many guys have those tiny guys being their go to receiver. I love Hilton. I think he's a home run hitter who can be as exciting as anyone in the game, but I don't know if he's built to be a 12-15 target per game guy. I know he had 11 last night, but Luck couldn't seem to get it to him. I saw a few early ones bounce at his feet. I wouldn't be surprised if DHB gets more targets per game going forward, but Hilton outproduces him.

Maybe the Colts can trade Trent Richardson to the Giants for Nicks.
Wow. Sounds ridiculous but makes sense. No way do the Giants make that trade, but I don't hate it.
Why not? Richardson just went for a 1st rounder a few weeks back. No one is giving up a first for Nicks and it's unlikely they re-sign him. He's going to be looking for a Mike Wallace-esque megabucks contract and the guy can't stay healthy. With the money they already committed to Cruz and promising young guys like Randle on the roster, they're likely not re-signing him anyway. Would you rather have Richardson on a rookie deal or 10 more games of Nicks (when your team is 0-6)?

If I'm the Giants, I'd take that deal in a nanosecond.

It would take at least a 2nd to get Nicks, NY York will pass on anything else. Most likely Nicks will sign a big enough contract in of season with another team that NY will get awarded that 3rd round comp pick in the 2015 draft.

Which would they rather have - a guaranteed 4th in 2014 or a possible 3rd in 2015?

Would have to ask them. Neither one is clearly preferable IMHO. In the case of the 3rd, probable, not possible, would more apt.
