I gave up after about three minutes. You know those people in... what was that movie... the one about the town where everyone is unnaturally bright and cheerful and fake? She's like that. It's like someone programmed her and dialed up the wide-eyed cheerfulness too much.

 
That was spectacularly pathetic. That was the GOP's official response in the run up to an election. What in the hell. They're becoming a spectacle even on a strictly controlled platform.

Does nobody know her name? Between here and facebook, I've seen a bunch of references to "she" and "her" and "this woman" and the like, but I still have absolutely no idea whom everyone is talking about.

It does not matter who she was. She will not be heard from again after that failure. The content of the speech was awful. The delivery was worse.

Obama's speech was terrible. He looked tired and said nothing. Even his lies are getting too easy to spot. At least at the beginning of his presidency he covered up his lies rather well. Only today's GOP could find a way to completely miss on such an important speech. Who chose this lady?

I'd assume the search committee that chose Palin. Total clone right down to the accent. Why on earth they thought letting her speak was a good idea I guess we'll never know. What's disturbing is the they punted on taking Obama to task over about 1m things that have happened since the last response, but instead chose to double down on God and family. Maybe they really are thinking about an all-fundie ticket for 2016.

I expected to see some sort of retreat from the loon-wing of the party by now. Obviously not happening any time soon.

so cheesy.....that's literally sounds like the response you'd hear in our county politics...not a national party. They obviously have this new strategy of trying to be more positive and inclusive....we'll see how that works out...

Looks like President Hillary Clinton and first lady Bill is an almost certainty.

This was my first thought when they introduced who would be delivering the response. Get the highest ranking woman and try to debunk the "war on women" image. I was reaching for the remote after a few minutes.

I did not vote for Obama last time around. I wanted to have confidence in Christie. The GOP just has nobody. The more "tea party" they become, the more I lean 3rd party.

Christy is about the only GOPer with a clue at running a campaign. I have no clue what the last two guys ran on.

I thought so, too. And her method of delivery seemed to scream "Look, I'm normal, I'm safe, I'm not a crazy extremist like Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin". It came off as very, very calculated. And off-putting.

But all of the God mentions worked against this imo. It just reminded me of Republicans trying to put personal religious views into policy for all. Which is not inclusive.

Definitely had the feel of "more image, less content". Didn't work on this voter who can absolutely be swayed in '16. I WANT to be swayed. They're swaying me more towards Gary Johnson, again. And that may not be a bad thing.

and this country is moving further and further away from religion. any platform where god is as prominent as it was in that speech is going to fail.
