Rev Up The Kevin Faulk Bandwagon (1 Viewer)

I just got off a radio show in New England and they believe Maroney will be inactive as well. He is clearly a gametime decision though so don't mark this in stone. Kevin Faulk and Heath Evans are expected to split the carries if Maroney can't go.
Thanks David. I think Faulk is the slightly better play due to his involvement in the passing game. In a PPR league he should be no worse than a solid RB3 this week. Evans could get decent yardage and any possible goal-line TDs.
What kind of numbers can we guesstimate for Faulk? 15-60 yds, 5 rec-50 yds & a TD ????

I'm not sure he'll get a TD but the other numbers aren't far off in my opinion. I could see him topping 55 yards rushing but not getting more than 80. Toss in 3-5 receptions for 40-50 yards and that's a safe projection in my opinion. I don't see Belichick turning him into a workhorse - that isn't Faulk's game anyway - so I doubt he gets more than 15 carries. But against the Dolphins' sorry run defense, he could get some good rushing yardage with 12-15 carries. His best shot for a TD will be if he can break one from outside the 10. Certainly possible but I wouldn't bank on it. The Patriots haven't had many rushing TDs this season because their passing game has been doing all the work. For what it's worth, Faulk has had a couple of games in the past few seasons where he did get featured back carries. They were both in 2003 and his production was very good:23-96-0 rushing/6-58-0 receiving23-80-0 rushing/8-108-0 receivingAgain, I wouldn't bank on that happening but if all the stars do line up just perfectly for him he has shown in the past he can deliver if he's given a huge workload. And this would be a good matchup for him to excel against.

 Thanks. Which 2, Faulk, Edge, Ports???

Faulk's last 3 games against Miami

06

10/08 mia 1/-1/-1.0/0; 1/15/15.0/0

12/10 @mia 5/29/5.8/0; 2/12/6.0/0 (started)

05

01/01 mia 6/12/2.0/0; 0/0/0/0

I know he has the opportunity for a larger workload against a weak run-d (IF MARONEY DOESN'T PLAY!), but if you take those numbers and average it out over say 15 carries and 3 rec, you're looking at...

15/50/3.3; 3/27/9.0

add a TD and that's a decent showing (~13pts - non ppr). no TD? I don't know. I was hoping for more than just 7pts.

if anyone cares how the misinformation flowed about this story...

http://blogs.rotoworld.com/Fantasy_Footbal..._on_maroney.php

Last night, the Associated Press ran a story about the Patriots running game that included the following line:

Maroney, who gained 252 yards on 54 carries in the first three games, ran well in practice Wednesday but took some plays off and won't play Sunday against winless Miami.

We put a story up about it quickly, but a few things didn't seem right.

1. This should have been the lede of the article. It was buried in the sixth paragraph as a throw-away line. We've found this sort of thing often indicates a mistake.

2. All Boston outlets have indicated that Maroney has improved steadily over the last few weeks and has a good chance of playing this week. At the very least, he'll be a game-time decision unless the AP had somehow cracked the Belichick fortress with some super scoop.

Anyhow, we kept looking and found this edited AP article posted on the Boston Herald, with this quote.

"(Morris) won’t play Sunday against winless Miami, but Maroney is likely to return."

We edited our post, including what we knew, but a few fantasy sites (which make sure to check Rotoworld as policy), too the original story and ran with it.

Some writer or editor made a major mistake somewhere, but the second version makes a lot more sense. Recently, NFL.com has re-posted the story saying Maroney is out and some readers have let us know about it.

I suspect the version from the Herald, not the one on NFL.com, is the correct one. In the end, we won't really know until Sunday morning. Just like the Patriots want.

To be honest i only like Faulk in a PPR league. Otherwise is see 60-90 total yards. If you get points for rec. you may add 4-5 pts. I have a feeling you will see a large load for Evans.. If you think you know what the hoody will do then you dont.

Does anybody know when / how Maroney was injured? I remember him walking off the field after his 100 yard game and putting his arm around Bill Belichick. He was happy as all get out. I don't remember him getting hurt in that Buffalo game....was he hurt in practice the following week? All I know is that there is nothing else to do with Maroney but hold on to him at this point. You can't trade him with his value this low. You just have to hope after the bye that he plays like the player you thought you drafted or "kept." I only hope he is back faster than Sammy Morris so he can establish himself as the workhorse.

True. But somebody will be getting carries in the 4th quarter to run out the clock of this lopsided game. 100 yards wouldn't be out of the question.

Like I said in the other Maroney Thread... Evans is going to be the play if Maroney is BN again(KFFL) Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said he would consider using FB Heath Evans in more of a featured role Week 7.

Here's a little more from the article....Belichick indicated he wouldn’t be afraid to use Evans in more of a featured role. The veteran fullback had a pretty good game against his old team in 2005, when he rushed for a career-high 84 yards on 17 carries.“He has a different style of running than some of our other backs, but he is a good runner,” Belichick said of Evans. “He has good vision, he protects the ball well, he has good power, he plays with good body lean . . . I would have no hesitation with the ball in his hands.”Evans, who loves the heat, wouldn’t mind an advanced role on Sunday.“It helps me,” he said. “I love going home and playing in that good humidity. My back loosens up and I really feel good.”

Both of these guys have really moved up the rankings overnight. I have to go with Evans here and see what happens Sunday morning.. If our league gave more points for yardage and/or receptions, it would be Faulk (he is ranked pretty high right now here).

For the 10th time . . .THE REPORT IS WRONG.MORRIS is the one that is out this week. It's unclear at this point if Maroney will play or not, but he HAS NOT been declared out for this week as of now.
with Maroney OUT this week Faulk is a no brainer especially in PPR leagues. Faulk knows the offense, can run and catch with no other RBs threatening his PT this week. Evans may be the goaline back this week but really NEs TDs this year have been outside the 10 yd line.Maroney must be the biggest FF bust this year
Maroney HAS NOT been ruled out this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 :lmao: :lmao:Can't stop laughing, never seen Yudkin frustrated...

WHO CARES MARONEY IS USELESS THIS WEEK, GET OVER IT
 Get over it?DY has been right on the money with his Pats reports and Maroney reports so far.He has nothing to "get over".He is simply providing very good information. You might want to "get over" the fact that you posted incorrect information.Oh...and if he plays...against the Dolphins...with bye weeks...not sure how the guy would be useless?
Whether Maroney plays is very a relevant issue for many of us. The Patriots are the worst organization to deal with when it comes to getting accurate information. I have Patriots on my team every year and as far as I'm concerned David Yudkin is by far the best/most accurate source of info I've found so far. Keep it up, DY.....

Are we forgetting the Pats are playing the Dolphins here?I could suit up and play starting RB for the Pats against the fish and this game will still be over at halftime.Maroney will probably suit up, but I'd be shocked if BB plays him.
wow, I finally posted something on these boards that make me look like I know what I'm talking about, but then again look at the second comment
