-- Dominic Rhodes Restructures to Remain a Raiders --

Wed Mar 5, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com

The Oakland Tribune reports Raiders RB Dominic Rhodes agreed to a restructured contract which dropped his salary from $3 million to $1.75 million. Rhodes was also scheduled to receive a $2 million roster bonus Friday, and it is a safe bet that he agreed to take much less. The Raiders reduced the salary of RB LaMont Jordan in a similar fashion last season.

------------------------

With Rhodes staying, Fargas re-signed, M Bush a possible 1st rd talent, and Jordan not yet cut.....

is this enough to think Mcfadden will fall past them? I can see McF falling far and as the Raiders sure up their RB corps why would they take him? Character questions (i know this makes him more of a fit for Oak), Skinny legs questions, deep rb class and Fargas emerging all make McF less likely.

Thoughts?

My thought:

McFadden was never, is not, and shall never be an option for this team. In their zone blocking scheme, they created a 1,000 yard rusher out of Justin Fargas. It's the ONE position they are probably comfortable with.

Meantime, they have no right defensive end, and Warren Sapp just retired. A stud right defensive end, Howie Long's kid for pete's sake, and two great under tackle prospects are available in the draft. This should be among the easiest spots to mock in the entire 1st round. And a lot fo people are getting it wrong.

Long

Dorsey

Ellis

Gholston

Long

That's my best guess as to their draft board. Gholston may be higher. But I think if the above 5 players are somehow drafted before the Raiders pick 4th, then McFadden might be the pick.

I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, obviously I have NO idea what the Raides are thinking, but I know this: They love D-linemen, they need, D-linemen, and this draft is top heavy in..........D-linemen.

My best guess is mockers are trying to shoehorn McFadden into the top 5, and aren't putting much thought into it.

I agree, I dont see McF going top 5. Jets maybe but in the division they need more help then a new RB. I could see McFadden dropping down the list and someone HAVING to trade up to get him.

I agree. I think keeping Rhodes on board gives us a glimpse into their thinking but before that the need of D-line was hard to miss. I have a feeling that Long is the top of the list because both he looks to be a great promising talent AND because of the heritage of his Dad with the Raiders. You would have to think that that will help or at least make the Raiders think it will help, in contract negoitations. I agree with Dorsey being second on the list but I would switch Gholston and Ellis... I would even put Jake Long in front of both Gholston and Ellis but I do not think he will get past the Rams. I think it is a near lock that either C. Long or Dorsey fall to the Raiders and if either of them do, they will be happy to grab either. They will likely look for OL help in the 2nd if the value is there.
