Rich Eisen runs the 40 yard dash (1 Viewer)

Was watching the combine coverage last night, and they showed Eisen running the 40 at Indy. I believe his fastest time was a 6.34. Dude was killing me running the 40 in his shirt and tie.

Then they used the special technology to superimpose nfl players racing against Eisen. I think they showed him race against DHB and a couple other of the fastest guys. The nfl player was out of the picture in less than a second. :goodposting:

Finally, they showed him racing against BJ Raji. Funny stuff. Then they gave Rich a 6 yard headstart and Raji still beat him.

I think I watched this segment 4 or 5 times. Some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a while. It really puts into perspective just how insanely fast these players are. I always thought I would run a 40 in the low 5's, but now I'm pretty sure I would struggle to run a sub 6 40.

Eisen puttin on the running shoes

paraphrasing "8.5 ounces, so they aren't going to slow me down"

I also like his comment later about running in Custom Canali

One of the comments-

The tie has to cause a lot of drag. He'd easily average a 6.51 without the tie.

He said this year he's not messing around. Classic.
He talks about it in his book Total Access (the cover has him running the 40 in his suit), which is informative and fairly entertaining. He's a bit of a cheeseball sometimes, but likeable.

:banned: After you've see one super-fast dude chasing another super-fast dude a million times, you get desensitized to just how super-fast these dudes are. Steve Bono's 70-yard TD run against the Cardinals was a comic masterpiece because he looked so slow. But he was probably running faster than 95% of the population is capable of running.

I will NEVER forget watching that. What was so great was that NO ONE from Arizona was even in the picture....that is how good the ball-fake was!IIRC. RT Joe Valerio was escorting him down the field and Joe kept waving Steve to get ahead of him -- but Bono was so gassed that Valerio was able to back pedal ahead of him :bag:

when i was volunteering at the 40yd dash event at NFL Experience, the fastest guy i saw ran 4.69. he was fast. those dudes running in the 4.3s and 4.4s are insane. so are those 300 pounders running in the high 4s. very, very impressive athletes.

Many athletes can run sub 5.0 and I mean college guys. I was a catcher and in college I ran a 4.8, a 4.6 and a 4.8 so I guess I am closer to 4.8, but again I was a catcher and that slowed me up compared to my younger days.4.5 is extremely fast and when you consider the size of these guys it is really amazing. I was 6' and 185-190 pounds in college. These guys are 245 running sub 4.5's.

FWIW, I still don't understand why teams don't make these guys run with pads on (standard for their position)

Unbelievably funny. Rich is such a great sport. Why didn't he put on some real track clothes though? Hilarious either way.

Wonder what Deion or Marshall would run TODAY in a suit?
