He was on Simmons' podcast earlier this week. It was a great 90 minutes.I've never heard his show being on the East Coast, but I was always pulling for him to succeed (and bitter that the West got Carolla and we were stuck with David Lee Roth when Stern left). Here's to hoping that Adam now surfaces on more Bill Simmons podcasts and/or Kimmel shows.
Even with half the listeners they'll make more money because they don't have to pay the talent?Wow, this new Top 40 format sucks. Hard.WTF were they thinking?
This could be the only possible logic for this... but Top 40? Really? Couldn't they have found a better niche in the market?Even with half the listeners they'll make more money because they don't have to pay the talent?Wow, this new Top 40 format sucks. Hard.WTF were they thinking?
I don't even know how they can call most of that Top 40.I know i'm getting old, but everyone i've had listen to it doesn't know ANY of the songs they've heard! It seems to be quite techno every time i've turned it on.This could be the only possible logic for this... but Top 40? Well he was the number 1 draw there. Has had his demographic locked up in the ratings for quite some time! He's the reason the station remained a success after Howard left!I heard frank from Frosty, Heidi and Frank got PO'd about him not taking a cut, but why the heck should he?It looks like the Leykis got the blame for the station going down because the company was losing money and asked everyone to renegotiate their contract. Only person didn't agree to it, guess who? He signed a smart contract and will be getting paid through 2012 unless he wants to sign with someone else, in which case CBS will have to buyout his contract. I'll miss listening to him but can't blame him for getting paid for the next 4 years for doing nothing.
Thanks for that!I'm not in the SoCal market, so I didn't know he was on the radio. Used to listen to Adam & Dr. Drew every chance I got on LoveLines. Great stuff. For anyone that liked his show, check out his new podcast....last night's was 37 minutes of uncensored beauty!

WTF is this?Listening to Adam Carolla for 9 years?..are you to cheap to buy satellite? WTF? Get a life
I'm not sure why Leykis should have to take a pay cut. He's making a profit for the station and probably propping up the ratings of every other show on the station (especially the shows that directly precede and follow his show). If anything, the other shows should have agreed to a bigger paycut (in proportion to how much profit they bring in). Now, maybe the station isn't bringing in as much ad revenue due to the economy. But that's not Leykis' fault. If anything, it's CBS's fault for not insisting upon a clause in Leykis' contract that allows them to renegotiate if the ratings (or revenue) drops to a certain point.CBS is going to lose so much money in this move.zander_s said:Well he was the number 1 draw there. He's hosting Top Gear USA on NBC.http://www.motortrend.com/features/consume...rive/index.htmlsounds like he's done doing a radio show. he's getting paid through 2009, and wants to do another movie and has some other stuff he wants to do.Wow, this totally sucks.
I will follow Carolla to wherever he ends up.

Any of you guys watch Top Gear on BBC America?
That show rules. One of the best shows on tv anywhere, imho. Hard act to follow. Never miss it. I haved my doubts as to how well NBC will reproduce the awesome production quality of the original, but there's always hope!
I am very annoyed by this. I am not in the LA market, but I can't imagine that it really needs another Top 40 station. Hell, the world doesn't need another Top 40 station.
RatingsAMP Radio has been enjoying substantial ratings success. In the August PPMs, AMP Radio beat competitor KIIS-FM in the 18-34 demo. As of the November PPMs, AMP Radio is #4 overall in audience share (age 12+) with 3.7% and #3 overall in audience cume (age 12+) with 2,819,800 listeners.
Agreed. And Alison Rosen has been a great addition to the show in the last year. All in all, he's carved a great niche for himself outside of terrestrial radio. On the flip side of things, this led to the Adam Carolla Podcast, which >>> his radio show.As a Carolla fan, I am happy with the way this all turned out.
Maron > Joe Rogan > The Nerdist > CarollaI stopped listening to Carolla about a year ago. Liked the podcast very much at first, and I can deal with the #####ing and complaining that he's famous for at the beginning of his shows, but when he brings his guest on, it's still all about himself. There would be times I'd be real interested in a particular guest and an hour later I didn't know a single thing about the guy that I didn't know before. I switched over to Maron and found that he actually would get things out of his guests, although I don't listen to it as frequently as I did Carolla.Glad he's making good money doing this though.
Anyone with a beating heart > CarollaMaron > Joe Rogan > The Nerdist > Carolla
I listen to both Maron and Carolla, and love both shows. No doubt Maron is a better interviewer in terms of connecting with his guests and getting them to unveil interesting parts of their lives, but that's not really what Carolla's show is shooting for.I stopped listening to Carolla about a year ago. It's a shame too because the best podcasts are the ones where he actually engages with the guests. His one on ones are usually pretty interesting.I stopped listening to Carolla about a year ago. I listen to both too. Carolla is good in short doses and is usually much funnier than Maron. Maron is a great interviewer but I'm usually finding that his show quality varies more with the interviewee.'Jewell said:I listen to both Maron and Carolla, and love both shows. Yeah they are very different shows. Most of the time with Carolla I listen to the first 30 minutes and tune out before the guest even comes on. With Maron it's all about the guest. I also kind of like how Carolla leaves it up to the guest to fit in as oppossed to doing a standard interview we see on late-night shows. It can lead to some good stuff.'Jewell said:I listen to both Maron and Carolla, and love both shows. I listen to both but Adam/Drew has jumped ahead when I have new ones. The Drew show is a shorter/tighter which often fits better with my listening habits. Their is a bit of repetition among the two shows. Basically you'll get Adam's fresh stories/opinions in both shows. I prefer the Drew show because it's shorter and Drew >>>>>>>> Brian/Alison. The live ACS shows I always skip.I burned out on the regular Adam Carolla podcast over the summer, but have been listening to a lot of the new Adam and Dr. Drew podcast episodes lately. They're pretty much like the classic Loveline shows except with maybe 2 or 3 calls in an hour as opposed to 5 or 6. With Drew around, Adam is less prone to retelling his repetitive stories and the two of them provide some insightful information on psychology, relationships, etc. - where both of those guys are at their best.
The line about the nerds getting upset over the ending to the Desolation of Smaug had me rolling.@Deaf Frat Guy. I never get tired of that guy.
I remember Adam talking about this on his podcast right after Donny left. I think he said it had a lot to do with Donny and Mike (?), the lawyer he brought on to help with the overall management of the company, not getting along. Adam sided with Mike and that was it.Legal battle with co-creator of the podcast: http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/02/showbiz/adam-carolla-podcast-lawsuit/
