I never watched it but I remember that he was good in another show years later called Hope and Gloria.who wasn't?
Add wheel of fortune to the list of theme songs I never knew he wrote.I believe he also wrote and sang the Diff'rent Strokes theme, and wrote the Facts of Life one too.
I read an anecdote about how "Growing Pains" was designed to be centered around him (it was a copy of the "Cosby Show"), but it didn't take long to realize that Kirk Cameron was the main attraction, and so the ABC execs pushed the writers to bring him into the foreground. Thicke could have made a stink about it, could have poisoned the show, but he didn't. He wasn't happy being a sidekick to a teenager, but he was a professional and did all he could to get the best out of the series.Damn. A great guy by all accounts. RIP.
I always enjoyed when they had him on. Dude was really funny.Very sad. He was a regular on the Dan LeBatard show and was just tremendous. On his last appearance just last week, he managed to work in a joke about waxing turtles and handfuls of beavers. LeBatard said he'd never be able to top it. Seemed like a great guy, RIP.
I'm more amazed that he was able to tweet at all after dying...Story says it happened around noon but yet he tweeted about 4 hours ago. Don't understand that. RIP
great postLet this be a wake up call to FBGs, particularly those with heart disease prevalent in their families. You can be in the greatest shape, eat fantastic, and still be at high risk. There may be no signs of heart disease but if you're at risk you really really need to pay attention to your body. If you experience any kind of what you may think is an inconsequential issue, do some research and if the symptoms match up, get checked out. Unlike cancer, heart disease can take you quick with no opportunity for treatment or recovery.
This was my thought too. Great way to go. Tough for his kid though. When it's your time, it's your time I guess.Supposedly he sat up, made jokes, said to take a picture, etc. Everyone knew it was a heart attack but thought he was going to be fine. Then he died at the hospital. I know a bunch of older guys still play hockey. Probably why he was in great shape. At least he went out doing what he loved. RIP Mr. Thicke.

So true...last summer I was golfing with my buddy who is 6ft and about 170lbs, works out, ruins 5 and 10Ks all the time and appears to be the picture of health. The guys numbers were all good as well. We were playing a hilly course and walking up hills when he said to me "I don`t feel good" I am having trouble catching my breath. Then he sits down and says he is having trouble breathing. I just thought it was hot and a hilly course. After 9 he says I am going home. Next day he calls me and says he went to emergency that night and they are doing a quad bypass on him the next day. Doctor said had he continued walking the hills he probably would have died on the course.Let this be a wake up call to FBGs, particularly those with heart disease prevalent in their families. Yep, if you have a significant family history of heart disease you could be a ticking time bomb. And you'll never know for sure unless they shove some catheter up your arteries. So true...last summer I was golfing with my buddy who is 6ft and about 170lbs, works out, ruins 5 and 10Ks all the time and appears to be the picture of health.
