Risk Vs. Reward (1 Viewer)

How do you guys factor in the risk vs reward factor when starting boom or bust players? Especially now that it is playoffs for many of us, where it's one and done any given week. During the season I do not have much fear of starting boom or bust players on a given week if at the end of the year I feel that starting this player is +EV. But, I'm having a hard team this playoff week judging the value of such players on a one week basis. Do you try to handicap your game versus your opponent, and try to figure out how much risk you think you have to (or don't have to) be taking? For example this week I feel as though I have a big advantage on most of my matchups vs. my opponent, therefore I don't think taking a big risk (even if it has a great reward) is worth it since putting in someone with much less risk (and lower reward) should still notch me a W.

I'm in the exact opposite position. I am going against the LT owner, and I have to put guys out there that at least have a shot at mult-TD games.

I like your reasoning - if you think you have good matchups then why go for the high risk/ high reward guys. I am facing the #1 seed this week and he pretty much has me beat in most of the matchups so I am taking a chance on guys like Ced. Bensen and Julius Norwood. Of course it could backfire but...
