Robbie Gould: Time to Change Kickers? (1 Viewer)

stingy

So I managed to pick up Gould after week 2 and have been set at kicker ever since, but these last 2 games have seriously got me considering the idea of picking up someone else. Last week against the Patriots there were 2 times when Rex turned it over in the red zone, and then yesterday he turns it over at the Vikings 22 and 48 yard lines.

Obviously Gould is a tremendous kicker in real life (missing only one FG all year, a 45 yarder that was barely blocked after he had made a 40 yarder that was called back by penalty), but if Grossman keeps turning it over at this pace, his potential decreases greatly. I know it's just a kicker, but getting only 3 points yesterday instead of his usual (at least 7, more likely double digits), could definitely cost a team their fantasy season.

One thing in his favor to consider though is that Chicago's next 3 games are @St. Louis, Tampa Bay, and @Detroit. Two games indoors and all three are against poor defenses. Will Grossman hold onto the ball enough in these games to give Gould some FG opportunities?? I'm not sure!

I have been thinking the exact same thing, except I've always found it near impossible to predict kickers.

Same problem - hello Mike Nugent on the WW - Jets are playing well with a nice schedule down the stretch - Nuge has looked better as well. Out of last 4 weeks only one should be a weather issue -

Check him out for a nice pick up for the stretch.

:goodposting: yep, almost have to just stick with Gould, because the minute I give up on him producing any points is when he'll have a 15 point game!!!

That's very true, and like I said, the Bears do face some presumed easier defenses over the next three weeks. However, the Vikings were supposed to be good against the run, not against the pass. That was clearly all just Rex being bad yesterday. Here are some kickers available in my league - Nugent, Lindell, Feely, Bironas, Gramatica. I can't add or drop any more players after this week, so I'll probably pick up one just to make sure I have a backup kicker on my roster. Anyone want to weigh in on those 5 guys?

Gould owner here, and I've been thinking the same thing. However, this is the thing about the Bears: They generate turnovers so there could be a lot of short fields. If Lovie loses confidence in Grossman, he'll just run the ball on those short fields which could set up FG attempts.

As much as Grossman on O takes away Gould's chances, the D can provide them right back.

I don't like to overthink my kickers but I really like this thought. I'm gonna give Gould one more week but Nugent seems like a nice option. Tynes, Scobee, and Rackers are other options.

With the way Rex has been operating in the Red Zone lately, Da Bears should just kick a FG every time they get to the opponents 30 yard line. :bag:
