Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (1 Viewer)

A Hall of Fame for an art form seems silly in the abstract, but I really enjoy these, if anything for the history lesson.

Anybody watching the 2015?

not much of a Green Day fan but I was pleasantly surprised at how they held their own at the 99 Bridge show where they were on a bill with brian wilson, tom waits, the who, pearl jam, lucinda williams, pumpkins and neil. expected them to be sloppy mess playing acoustic, but they were tight and fun. not sure about their inclusion in hof but cant muster up any outrage about it.

kind of a weak show this year IMO.

Say what you want about Green Day, but they played well, Dookie is a solid album, not sure that they deserve it over other people, like Pearl Jam. but I get it

I am a big fan of Green Day. Nothing wrong with simple, fun tunes. Green Day has no business anywhere near the HOF. The HOF is a joke. I visited it once and will never return.

i think they are worthy for punk groups and turning their album into a Broadway show. And for longevity.I don't think they should have got inducted before other more deserving groups

I wonder if they will let Joe Jackson in the HOF.
Cause if my eyes don't deceive me there's something going wrong around here.
As long as he doesn't show up without his shoes.

Oh, I thought you were referring to Michael's Dad.

well and double-played.

To me, it cannot be a true Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until they boot Ricky Nelson OUT!
He was an important figure in the popularization of rock n roll in the 50s. He gets unfairly lumped together with manufactured teen idols like Fabian and Pat Boone by people who don't know any better. Nelson was a rock n roll lifer who stayed true to his rockabilly roots until his plane went down.

Here's "Believe What You Say" with the great James Burton on lead guitar.

Maybe I'm getting old and sentimental but I always enjoy these lately

Sometimes even gets a little dusty

Gary Clark, Jr dominated the SRV set.. that dude's badass

I guess we just have to get used to Miley Cyrus being ####### everywhere. You'd think she was the lowlight of the evening, but I'll go with Ringo stepping out from behind the kit for a rousing full-length rendition of that old classic "It Don't Come Easy"

Stevie Wonder still rules, and Green Day was totally great and deserve the honor

Pearl Jam isn't eligible until the next vote.
weird I thought they were this year.
They are actually not eligible until the year after next.

Seems so weird for them to get in after Green Day

One of my biggest disappointments in the RnRHOF is their inability to recognize the greatness that is Jeff Lynne. They need to get him in the Hall.

Stevie killed it on that Bill Withers segment. We need a harpejji category in the next nerd draft.

Didn't catch the show Saturday but want to see it just for Gary Clark, Jr. The only knock against him is his lack of material.

All were very good but I thought Doyle Bramhall was the standout in that electric guitar showcase with Double Trouble.

I don't know the guy...will have to look into him...but his licks were very intriguing. He just nonchalantly tears it up and it's pure soul.

Mayer definitely learned soul...but this Doyle dude was born with it.

What is the rules on eligibility?

How in the Holy hell did KISS just get in last year?!

Look for the tour of the summer - Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, and Doyle Bramhall II

Bramhall was in a short-lived Austin band in the early 90s called Arc Angels. It also featured 80s one-hit wonder Charlie Sexton on guitar and vocals and Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon from the rhythm section of Double Trouble. They put out one album in 1992 that's well worth a listen. They broke up shortly afterwards but reunited about five years ago for a live album. I don't think it had any new material on it.

I think it's 25 years from your debut album release. And I have no idea.

KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley has once again slammed the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, saying that the organization "hates" the band and that the Hall Of Fame had "no choice" but to induct KISS after the group's fans demanded it.In his halftime speech during yesterday's (Saturday, April 26) LA KISS Arena Football League game against the San Jose SaberCats at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Stanley who brought out his Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame award and was holding it in his left hand said (see video below): "I want you to know something, in case you didn't know already. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame hates us. You've gotta know that when it takes 14 years to get invited to a party, they don't want you at the party, but you insisted, you demanded, and they had no choice. This is your award. Nobody sitting behind a desk with a suit and tie is gonna tell you what rock and roll is. You are the ones who decide, and we honor you. And it is my pleasure and my privilege to say thank you for this award."Stanley's feud against the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame recently turned personal against the Hall's co-founder, Rolling Stone owner and publisher, Jann Wenner. Most KISS fans were expecting that with the honorable way all four co-founding members acted towards each other on April 10 during the band's induction, that the controversy between Stanley who rejected the Hall's insistence that only the four original co-founders be inducted was put to rest.During his brief acceptance speech, Stanley couldn't help but take a few shots at the Hall and its voting committee, who had passed over inducting KISS every year since 2000, saying, "Here we are, basically inducted for the same things that we were kept out for. The people are speaking to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and what they're saying is that they want more. They don't want to be spoon-fed with a handful of choices. The people buy tickets, the people buy albums, the people who nominate do not. Let's not forget that these are the people who make it all possible. We just benefit from it. I am here tonight because of the people who inspired me, but I am also here because of the people I inspired. So God bless you all. It's a wonderful night."Stanley's two tweets from April 12 that took a decidedly unforgiving and personal twist, first saying: "Our treatment at the RRHOF confirmed my worst suspicions. Wenner and the rest are spineless weasels."He went on to post: "Jann Wenner & his RRHOF made sure to treat us as uninvited guests. No passes. No schedule and on. We were great and he remains a small man."Paul Stanley told The Pulse Of Radio that ultimately what the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and what KISS choose to celebrate are two very different things. "I certainly want to celebrate what we continue to do and what we have developed. What the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame decides they want to celebrate is purely up to them. But it doesn't dictate how I picture this, 'cause as far as I'm concerned, we've always been in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Not a private club, not a place with a self-appointed board, we've been in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame because of the millions of fans who believe that's where we belong."

The induction ceremonies are always interesting and I'll admit that I've enjoyed some of the performances over the years.

However, the Hall of Fame induction process has always been a Jann Wenner ###-kissing festival, where Rolling Stone gets to decide who is cool enough for the room. If you are a band or genre that's in Wenner's blind spot (Metal, Post-punk, Prog), you get ignored.

who is Jann Wenner and why does he get to decide anything?
