Rodgers done with concussion...Flynn in (1 Viewer)

Aaron Rodgers left Sunday's game against the Lions in the second quarter with a concussion and will not return.

Rodgers was scrambling right up the middle of the field when he got banged around by two Lions' defenders. He was able to finish the series, but was clearly woozy as he got up. The good news is that Rodgers did not appear to be knocked unconscious, which is a positive sign for his outlook going forward. Inexperienced backup Matt Flynn has come on, while Rodgers finishes the day with just 46 passing yards and an interception. Dec. 12 - 2:19 pm et

*Kills self*Who wants to lose, or even win, this way?
Welcome to the wonderful world of fantasy football. I'll probably lose in one of my leagues thanks to QB Skelton going for the Cards (LFitz) and QB Croyle starting for the Chiefs (Bowe). But it's basically just a different form of gambling...so if you don't like the occasional bad-beat, then don't play.

Aside from FF, this is terrible for GB shoud they lose this week. Drop to 8-5 and still behind Chicago no matter what they do later tonight. That's worse case scenario but they were already in the outside looking in, this dosn't help.

This is the worst possible news for me as I have him in both my leagues and he is a big reason I've been the best team in both.

I could vomit right now, or go full on Kevin from the season finale of The League.

This is why those leagues where you start all your players and take your top QB isn't a bad way to go. 1 injury doesn't kill your season it may hurt you but you have a 2nd QB who can pick up the slack.

I'm speculating, but he looked alright on the sideline. Take it with a grain of salt, but I think he returns next week.

Purely my opinion.

Yea. Puked in my mouth a little here. Got him in my two highest stakes leagues. Luckily I had a BYE in one of them, but he left me with a 19 point deficit in the other. Sadly I was forced to start James Jones in that same league... oh I have Jennings in the other one as well.... none of this is good. I'm never on the other end of these things.

Next week?Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
There will be no next week as a result of this for my team with Rogers.
Yep. Add Gore and you go from the penthouse to the outhouse in 3 weeks. My team name next year will be "Paper Champions"Thanks for listening.

So we know he played the following week after the 1st concussion this year.

Likely again? Is there any concussion rule in the NFL that dictates something to happen after your second of the season?

It looks like I would have lost this week anyway even if Rodgers had put up a big game; this just adds an exclamation point to a playoff loss.

Any news on the outlook for Rodgers going forward? Lot of impact all around here, for Rodgers owners as well as other guys like Jennings, Driver, etc.

I'm guessing no news as he'll be subject to the battery of tests under the new league concussion rules and verdict will be in Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm not positive about there being a hard fast rule as far as number of concussions. I know you have to get a 3rd party physician to clear you to play which is what he'll have to do this week. His first one was towards the beginning of the season so I think there's hope for those of us that have 1st round byes or somehow eek out a win with Rodgers only putting a few points up. Just hope that it isn't a severe variety. He looked OK on the sideline and said he was still cloudy after the game, but that's normal.

For those who didn't see the play, Rodgers could have slid and avoided this. He had a first down and then some. This was just plain stupid on his part. There was no reason at all to not slide on this play.

True, but you see it every week in the NFL. This was a guy who was frustrated that the offense wasn't clicking, saw some room and wanted to get all he could because up to that point there really wasn't much to get. Obviously he wished after the fact he would have slid but it was a guy just trying to make a play. How many times when guys go down early do you hear "Oh come on, he could have gotten 5 more yards, what a sissy!"With all that said, the coaching staff definately needs to talk to this guy as this is No. 2 for him this year. He needs to take better care of himself out there because his team needs him. You'll have a hard time convincing me that somehow he wouldn't have found away to put a TD on the board in the 2nd half of that game even as bad as they were still playing with him in there. Just the drop by Jennings alone in the 1st half showed it could easily be done in a heartbeat.

Part of the offense not clicking was that he was not playing all that well at times either. But it wasn't the first hit he has taken where he should have slid. He does that too often.

Schefter said on ESPN this morning that the Packers should strongly consider sitting Rodgers next week.

I think those of us needing AR next week have a big advantage though...especially if the Giants win tonight. The Packers' backs are against the wall...they don't have a game to throw away.

Christ almighty I hope you're right.
As a Greg Jennings owner I second this.
I own both in both of my leagues. If he misses, I think Collins is the way to go. He got off last week and he faces Houston at home.Thoughts?

And in the process, he basically lost the game for his team in one simple play. Unreal. As a Packer fan, it was incredibly frustrating to see him make such a stupid decision. Defense played very well yesterday.....all we needed was the offense to show up. Ugh.Anyway, I'd expect Rodgers to play this week, but I also don't expect it to matter. The Pats are simply a better team.

The problem is it's not really up to Rodgers.I believe every player takes a neurological test before the season starts and if they get a concussion they have to take the test again...if it's not the same results they set prior to the season than they fail and have to sit. It's not up to Rodgers or the Packers organization...it's up to his brain function during this test.

Thanks for the detail...didn't know that about the test...but Schefter was saying the Packers should sit him even if he does pass. I can't see that happening.

Does anyone know when the test should take place?

I don't have a vested interest other than being a Vikings fan. Rodgers and the Pack need to be careful here. Rodgers has a lot of football in front of him. If they get stupid and throw him out there when he shouldn't it could be a serious injury waiting to happen. One year with a hobbled team (IMO) is not worth it.

Agreed...Im getting to the point that they need to sit him next game right now.The playoff chances this year rely on so much...that even winning out, they might get there...can this Packer team go 3-0 the rest of the way, then win another 3-4 games to win it all? I don't see it.

Really? I know I'll get bashed for saying this, but after losing last night, their season is basically over. New England, New York, and Chicago up next and they haven't performed well against winning teams all year, and they are fighting New York, New Orleans and Tampa for the two playoff spots. Tampa's got Det, Sea and NO. GB has 3 losses lined up for them. As a Jennings owner I'll be disappointed, but not surprised, if they shut him down.

Definitely agree. You know what sort of QB he is and they don't grow on trees. Missing the play-offs sucks but findingand drafting "the next one' sucks a lot more.

I think if Aaron Rogers has any shot at playing next weekend, he's going to play. His team is in a serious battle for the playoffs. He's replaced a guy who rarely missed games. Unless there's some kind of medical imperative that he sit, he's got to get out there and play or be doubted by the Green Bay fans and the pundits, who will use this as an excuse to question his desire and ability. Right or wrong, that's the situation for Rogers. Were he to miss this game, the team lose and the Pack not make the playoffs, he'll be pilloried.

I disagree that Green Bay fans as a whole would question or doubt his desire and ability. There will be the few still holding on to the past that will bring it up for sure. But I think most will see it for what it is...if they don't clear him, he can't play.I don't think he would be bashed for this other than by those who will already bash him (as some on other boards were yesterday...)

If Rogers doesn't play and it does shake out the way I imagine, I think it will be more a case of the pundits ginning up controversy than a grassroots uprising from the fans. Some sportswriters are currently trying to convince people to be outraged about Tashard Choice getting a Michael Vick autograph. The microscope comes out when you lose games. And it really comes out when you lose big games. I'm a Bears fan and I actually think Green Bay fans are pretty great fans overall. But when the media decides a question needs to be out there, it will get out there. And inevitably a segment of fans will sign on.

I realize this is not going to come off as sincere coming from a Bears fan, but here it goes:

Virtually every player who has sustained a concussion this season has sat out at least a week: DeSean Jackson, Jay Cutler, Austin Collie, Witten (?), Hines Ward, etc....the list is quite extensive (I'm sure others good add to it) - all except one. Aaron Rodgers.

This is now his 2nd concussion this season. I for one, would find it very strange if he DOESNT sit out a game to recover. I realize that seriousness of concussion does play a factor, but it is also well documented that several concussions within a shorter period of time are also quite dangerous.

Again, from a Bears-centric point of view the Bears put Hunter Hillenmeyer on season-ending IR after he suffered a 2nd concussion - and yet Rodgers isn't going to miss a game after his 2nd? Just seems odd.
