Both injury prone, but if Rolen can stay healthy I love this deal for the Jays. Especially if they are the team getting some coin.

Rolen is a much better defensive player and can hit for average, both of which Glaus are not the greatest at.

As a Cards fan, I'm fine with this deal. I was so sick and ####### tired of hearing about the LaRussa/Rolen rivalry on sports talk radio in St. Louis. The guy pulled similar crap in Philly. Plus, I have my doubts about Rolen's physical health of his shoulder, especially since he's getting up in years.

Glaus, meanwhile, is a guy I like. From what I've seen and read, he's a guy who can just clobber a baseball and gets on base. As long as he can field competently at 3rd and isn't a dooshbag, I'm fine with the deal.

Huge downgrade in the field, but it seems like Rolen had to be moved if LaRussa remained. Cards could of done much worse.

They probably would have had to offer more than Blalock. To me....Glaus >> Blalock.

If I were the Cards, I'd jump all over Blalock. I know he has a real affordable contract, so $$ may have been issue. I'd take Blalock over Glaus in a heartbeat myself. I believe Glaus should be on the other side of the diamond (it won't happen but they may be better off with Pujols at the hot corner). Glaus won't do any favors for that Cards pitching staff, which currently doesn't look all that impressive unless Carpenter returns to anything close to his prior form.....which isn't realistic for 2008 IMO.

Cards fans gotta feel good about this one. Rolen seems driven by ego as he has had problems with his last two managers and while he was a great hitter I don't think he has what he used to have.
