Interesting..I wasn't sure which hand it was, but I know it really affected how Favre threw the ball that year. It will definitely be interesting to see the Cowboys next to games especially on the road..
You really have no idea what you are talking about. Favre hurt his thumb in 2003. The team went 10-6 and won a playoff game against Seattle. He completed over 65% of his passes for 32 TDS and 21 INTS.

Genius? Do you even know your facts? He broke the thumb on October 19th (week 7) against St. Louis and hurt it again against Tampa Bay week 11 . Including that game against St. Louis he threw for 21 TDs and 13 INTs the rest of the season while the thumb problem lingered.
The ironic part here is that we are comparing this injury to a similar injury on a player with a streak the league has never seen. How many QB's have had the injury and not played or played well the following week(s). No reason to compare him to the iron man himself. Favre and his injuries are not a good starting point to judge other QB injuries.
without degenerating into an all out war of favre arcana (though good point above by stuntmonkee), the original point is obviously a legitimate question, which we have gotten away from...
the extent of romo's injury is indeterminate at present, but if severe enough, needless to say it COULD be very problematic... with a messed up thumb, it could make picking up a half gallon of milk difficult, let alone slinging the ball around the field with speed, strength & accuracy...
