McFadden signed

6yr 60M

The Oakland Raiders have signed first-round pick Darren McFadden, the team announced Thursday night.

Contract terms were not disclosed, but several media sources said the deal was for six years and $60 million, with $26 million guaranteed.

McFadden, the fourth overall pick in the draft, was participating in the Raiders' minicamp when the deal was struck. He becomes the third pick in the top four to sign. Top choice Jake Long signed with Miami before the draft and the No. 3 overall pick, quarterback Matt Ryan, completed a deal with Atlanta. Chris Long, the second overall pick by St. Louis, has yet to come to terms.

Getting McFadden signed early was apparently a high priority for the Raiders, who last year failed to agree to terms with quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the top pick in the draft, until the first week of the regular season.

The Raiders will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. ET on Friday to formally announce the deal. McFadden and coach Lane Kiffin are expected to attend.

It's slow when I am reporting a 6th RD signing.Giants sign 6th RD pick Andre Woodson, QB
Hard to believe that its been almost three weeks since D McFadden signed and still waiting. Suggest that you add the guaranteed amount as to me this is more important than the potential totals.

with the way the rookie pool works and all, now that 3rd and 4th rounders are signing fairly quickly, this list should start movin'.

There's talk of more rookie holdouts than ever before but I'm not so sure we don't hear that every year

So this is all picks and not just 1s/2d rounders, I take it. Can the title be changed or can we skip the lessers?

From Bengals.com:

The Bengals' efforts to sign their draft picks in time for the first training camp practice two weeks from Monday officially got underway Tuesday with the signing of fifth-rounder Jason Shirley to a four-year deal. Previously the club reached agreements with sixth-rounder Matt Sherry and seventh-rounder Mario Urrutia, and maybe an understanding to get things started with first-rounder Keith Rivers.

Ravens ink QB Flacco

Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports, and we have confirmed via two sources, that the Ravens and first-round pick Joe Flacco have agreed to terms.

It’s a five-year deal, with a value of nearly $30 million. The deal includes Brady Quinn-style escalators based on playing time. Unlike Quinn, the fact that Flacco is signed before the start of training camp makes it more likely that he’ll be the starter at some point in his rookie year.

The contract also includes $8.75 million in guaranteed money.

Flacco was the 18th overall selection in the draft.

I wonder what will happen there with Troy Smith? I keep hearing he has the upper hand right now, and looks very good.

Training camp is going to be a fun time this year.

Jets sign QB Erik Ainge and announced singing of CB Dwight Lowery

With training camp around the corners, the Jets have begun to crank out the draft-pick signings. Today they announced the signing of CB Dwight Lowery, a fourth-round pick from San Jose State. They haven’t made it public yet, but they’ve also agreed to terms with QB Erik Ainge, a source tells me. Ainge, a fifth-round pick from Tennessee, received a four-year contract and a $165,000 signing bonus.

The only unsigned picks are the two No. 1s - OLB Vernon Gholston and TE Dustin Keller. Sources tell that talks with Gholston, the No. 6 overall pick, have just now kicked into high gear. Evidently, the Jets aren’t anticipating any problems with getting him signed by the start of camp, July 24.

I find it interesting that Doucet signed such a short term deal. I wonder what happens with Boldin? They may regret not locking up Doucet longer than that.
In the NFL, we are learning that the length of contracts is really not too relevant. Maybe this should be the new wave (shorter deals that is). Players may be more prone to play out the length of the contract if it only a 3-4 year.

SAN DIEGO (AP)—Rookies Jacob Hester and DeJuan Tribble agreed to contract terms with the San Diego Chargers on Friday.

That leaves cornerback Antoine Cason, the team’s first-round draft pick, as the Chargers’ only unsigned player.

Hester and Tribble both agreed to four-year contracts. Hester, a running back from LSU, was picked in the third round. Tribble, a cornerback from Boston College, was chosen in the sixth round.

3rd rounder-

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Friday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with S DaJuan Morgan. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.

Rams sign Long.

BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT (TICKER) —The St. Louis Rams signed defensive end Chris Long - the second overall pick of the 2008 draft - to a six-year contract, according to a report by ESPN.com on Saturday.

Long signed the deal just before the Rams’ training camp is set to open on Thursday, making him the sixth first-round pick to agree to terms with his team. The web site said financial terms were not available.

The 6-3, 279-pound Long is the son of Hall of Fame defensive end Howie Long and has followed in his father’s footsteps thus far, entering the NFL after a stellar collegiate career.

In his senior season, Chris Long was a unanimous All-American selection, the winner of the Ted Hendricks Award for the nation’s top defensive end and the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Pathetic that camp starts in less than a week for some teams and only 4 SECOND rounder's have been signed.
Only 10 of the 1st and 2nd rounders....3 of which are Redskins. These other teams need to get with it.
