For the upcoming rookie drafts, where do you guys see the best spots? is it top heavy and worth breaking into the top few picks? If not, where is the value?

Until the NFL draft, it is tough to say. Right now though the 1.1(Mcfadden) is a cut above. The next two picks are really good as well, assuming Stewart and Jones declare, which they should. There is probably a step down after that with Mendenhall, Rice, Slaton and KSmith all having a shot at the 1.4, but at this point none that much further than the other. I would say the top 7 picks, all RB's, is where you want to be. After that you are looking at the QB's and WR's, none of which stand out as cant miss prospects. I prefer Matt Ryan at the QB position and Kelly and Jackson at WR. I think this is a RB rich draft, and should be an all together deep draft with offensive value through the first 18 or so picks. To answer your question, i really like the 2 and 3 spots. You will pay alot to get Mcfadden at one, but the next two guys could be as good if they go to a good situation, and could be had for much cheaper. I also like the next few picks if you can get them cheap, there could still be some good RB value.

It's too early to say. We won't know much about the depth until a few months from now.

I'm not in the camp that believes McFadden is a clear number one. I'm not a huge fan of his and I had the top pick in any of my leagues I'd be looking to move down a slot or two. I like the 1.02 and 1.03 slots this year assuming that all of the top junior RBs declare.

a late first should be a fine pick if you are looking to reload at QB, with a "big 3" (Ryan, Woodson, Brohm) a la 99, 04 and 06. At least one will fall to the late first of rookie drafts, if not the second.

I see Colt Brennon is pulling a Jay Cutler/Phillip Rivers, might be a "big 4" this year. Also, i think there is a big gap between a pick that can get a potential starting RB and a pick that can get you a potential starting QB.

My thoughts on rookie draft picks is that the top 2-4 (depending on the season) are gold, while most of the others are overrated. If I had a late first, I'd rather deal it for a vet than spend it on a rookie with potential.

That's a pretty good plan every year. Is anyone impressed with the WRs this year? D Jackson looks alright, I am a Mario Manningham fan, Ducet, Kelly, Hardy and a few others seem solid, but this WR class lacks studs.

This does seem to be very RB heavy. Might even push some quality backs who go to less than perfect locations down into the 2nd or lower rounds; might also limit Michael Turner's FA value.

Like I said in another post, the 2006 draft class was supposed to be weak at WR and it gave us Santonio Holmes, Greg Jennings, and Brandon Marshall. I haven't done my homework on the WRs yet (been focusing on the RBs), but I have to believe there are some gems in this crop somewhere.

Marques Colston too.

Yes, but Colston was most likely not drafted in fantasy rookie drafts at all and Marshall and Jennings were mostly third round flyers. The guys who went in the first round aside from Holmes have all flopped.

Holmes was the only WR taken in the first round that year.

I am talking about first rounds of rookie drafts. The only one to pan out was Holmes.
