Rookie RB comparison (1 Viewer)

We can use this thread to keep track of the "big 5" rookie rbs and how they look in preseason:

So far:

Maroney - 9 rush, 66 yards (Looked fantastic, outdid incumbent Dillon)

Addai - 3 rush, 3 yards + 2 catches for 12 yards (Didn't look good, neither did Rhodes)

Bush, D. Williams and L. White all play tonight.

Outside of the top 5, Norwood deserves some props for 7/22 rushing and 2/71 receiving with a 34 yards TD.

The only problem when comparing the stats is that these guys are most likely facing 2nd or 3rd stringers so it's hard to gauge how they would really do against the 1st string defensive unit. Also, they might have their own 1st string offensive line to run behind. It's hard to look only at stats. I think you to look to see if they are picking up blocks and what not. Also, if the starter or competition is struggling with the 1st unit, that's obviously a good thing.

Totally agree. But still, if you watched how Maroney's purebreeds horses were running when he saw daylight someone better tell Corey to stable HIS Clydeales or at lesast feed them some oats.

maroney did look good but to put his stats into perspective the atlanta d was ranked 26th vs the run last season and 26 of maroney's yards came on a draw on 3rd and 18

I'd still have to give props to Maroney. He and Dillon both were picking up huge chunks of yards against John Abraham, Patrick Kerney, and Rod Coleman. That's pretty impressive. He did look explosive and did a good job finding the holes.

Yes, and New England only averaged 3.44 yards per carry last year, so we should put that into perspective too.
