My vote went to Williams but I have him and WHite awful close. I just see Williams being able to extend his career a bit longer than White.

Wow, Maroney running away the the vote here so far. Williams and White ran away with the on eon NFL.com.

Probably in large part due to name recognition. From this list, though, Maroney has the best chance to be RB1 sooner than later, which would give him an edge in career stats

I've gotta go with Bush here. He's the most talented and I think he has the best potential for longevity. Next year, I expect either Bush or White to take the crown. Maroney also has a chance depending on how the Pats use Dillon.

Well Bush was left off on purpose on my part and I'm guessing on NFL.coms part as well.

Even if Bush was on, I would have still voted for Maroney.

I'm not a professional scout, so I'm basing my opinion entirely on what I've been told by a guy who, in my opinion, knows a thing or two about RBs. Mike Shanahan said that Maroney is going to be the best back in the NFL soon, and that if he hadn't traded up to get Cutler, Maroney would have been the first 1st-round RB selected during his tenure. That's good enough for me.

Bush might have won this poll based on name recognition, but I think there's a good chance he doesn't even finish in 3rd place on this list by the end of his career. It's hard to crack the all-time rushing lists on limited carries. He'll probably be near the top on the all-purpose yardage list, though.

You sure Shanny didn't just fall in love with a less talented RB than at least 3 other guys in this draft because of the striking similarities of Minn and Den's running systems? I think that all of Bush, Williams and White are vastly more talented. Maroney would have been the ideal RB for Den because of the system he played in at Minn. Judging these comments from Shanny, I would say he does not draft RBs in the 1st for good reason. ;)

Out of the players listed, Maroney seems to be in the best situation and will have a greater chance to put up good yards early in his career while the others may have to wait a bit. If Bush was here, I'd go Bush. If it was TOTAL yards, I'd go Bush without question.

Nope, I'm not sure about anything, since I've never seen the guy play and I'm not privy to Shanahan's private thoughts. With that said... again, he didn't say that he thought Maroney was the best fit for Denver. He said that he thought Maroney would be the best back in the NFL after a couple of years in New England (who, you might have noticed, is not a primarily zone-blocking team).

Also, if Shanny just wanted a back who would fit his system, he's proven time and again that he can get those guys on the second day or even off the street. The only time he drafts an RB high is when he's convinced that they're truly sublime talents (a la Clinton Portis).

I went with DeAngelo and that would be over Bush as well, although not in total yards. I don't think his situation is any worse than Maroney's since Dillon could hang on for a couple more years.

Laurence Maroney has my two votes ! Reasons: He went to my ole High School, Normandy High School St. Louis, Missouri

He might have been able to make our backfield since I played left guard and could clear the ends for him.
