*** Roster cuts *** (1 Viewer)

Giants cut Andre Brown.

Shocked that he was cut especially considering that Gatrell Johnson was cut as well.

Lions traded TE Dan Gronkowski for Denver CB Alphonso Smith. The Broncos traded up to get Smith in the 2nd round last year. Smith was considered one of the top 2 or 3 CBs last year. Both sides were essentially just going to cut these players so the trade made sense. My question is, why did Denver cut this guy loose after 1 season? Was he really that bad?
Yeah, I seem to recall plenty of people talking about how much of a genius McDaniels was for "stealing" Smith with that pick. That tells you how stupid it is to trade up unless your are POSITIVE that you are getting a good player. Wasting draft picks can really hurt your franchise.

Yeah, a lot of scouts thought he was getting overlooked because he was 5-9, but they thought in terms of playmaking and cover skills, he was top notch. How bad was he that you just cut ties after 1 year? I am baffled by it. He was a high 2nd round pick too- I hope the Lions got some kind of steal here. Regardless, it is just another piece of evidence that Josh McDaniels is actually as dumb as he thinks he is smart.

The San Diego Chargers have released QB Jonathan Crompton, CB Nate Vasher, RBs Curtis Brinkley and Shawnbrey McNeal as well as WRs Seyi Ajirotutu and Jeremy Williams, reports Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
It looks like San Diego going with Mathews, Sproles and the fullbacks.
Mike Tolbert
Yes, along with Jacob Hester, Tolbert is one of the fullbacks. (Both guys can also play halfback, and Tolbert has looked particularly good in that role. But he's the starting fullback.)

Bears cut Dan Lefevour. I wonder what are the chances that another team signs him. He played well in preseason, IMO.

Hester started the preseason games that I watched and is listed as the starter on the web-site: http://www.chargers.com/team/depth-chart.htmlI've heard Norv say on more than one occasion that he likes what Tolbert brings to the table as a ball carrier. People are sleeping on him IMO. Trying to find a roster spot and offered him to Matthews owner for a 5th rouder and he said no. Couldn't believe that...just not sexy, but I could see some McClain type numbers

He sure didn't live up to expectations. They got Parish in the 2010 draft and he has been outplaying Smith by a huge margin. Denver is deep in the secondary, Smith became expendable. I have no problem with the move per se, since Smith was liable to be cut anyway. The problem was trading a 2010 1st round pick to move up in the 2009 draft to get the guy in the first place. Ugh, I digress, it was McDaniels first draft as a head coach, he had a shortened time to prepare, yada yada, Let's just hope he learns from his mistakes.

With the Steelers cutting Stefan Logan, who is going to handle return duties for them? Are they going back to their past with Randle-El again?

Rookie WR Antonio Brown. Don't be surprised to see Mewelde Moore fielding kicks if Brown gets a case of butterfingers.

Denver gives up Alphonos Smith for Dan Gronkowski and Detriot claims Spencer Havner off Waivers. Great move by Detriot (boy do I miss Matt Millen).

Per KFFL:
The Cincinnati Bengals have announced they have claimed free-agent QB Dan LeFevour (Bengals) off waivers.
Edited to add:

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced they have terminated the contract of QB J.T. O'Sullivan.
Now he only has to beat out Carson's bro to claim the #2 spot.
