rotodugout.com refunds...... (1 Viewer)

Chemical X

Footballguy
with the obvious demise of rotodugout....snuffed out by the fbg corporate bully, i realized some angst in the fact i received monies from early contributors. i have begun refunding these funds via paypal.

give me about 1-2 weeks to go thru my received list and paypal back the monies.

i have refunded 160 donated by my :11: brethren and i need to add some scrilla to my account to facilitate the remaining refunds.

sorry we couldnt make a go of it, but fbg appears to be a good home.

maybe jhoe b is listening.

:goodposting:

The demise is your fault Chem X not JB's, as it could have been saved regardless if you had either given someone else control or at least checked in once in awhile. Keep your money, I got my $10 worth.

i beg to differ........unfortunately, i had real life come up and bite me at the exact time we were getting the board up.we never had more than 30 guys at any one time. i was actually ready to hand the keys over to you and i appreciate the effort, but ultimately i think we'd be spinning our wheels. most, if not all of our traffic was fbg based and once they initiated a baseball forum, that severely hampered us.i'll eat the 200- start up costs, i dont want anyone to take a hit..... :lmao:

i have refunded everyone except keys myaths..............

i have a PM pending.

thx for the support one and all!

So does this mean you'll FINALLY turn over the keys to Doctor Detroit like the majority of us want?
is there anything to turn over? remember, i'm now into this site for a couple of bucks without any outside money.i think this site makes rd obsolete, traffic IMO will be around 5-10 guys at any given time. :excited:

I joined that forum early on and noticed most of the discussions were blasting FBGs, not baseball. No wonder it didn't work out. I left after just a few days of reading the BS posts.

Yes, there was plenty of FBG bashing in one of the first threads at rotodugout.com. The thread is Good bye Rotodugout.com, We hardly knew ye. Here's the link for anyone to look at (unless it's suddenly deleted  Link to thread

There are over 10k posts in the baseball forum and 5k more in the auction and draft threads.

234 of 15,000 posts is one percent of the total posts knob.

from what I recall, JohnnyU is correct and there was plenty of "FBG bashing" early on once Joe started talking about setting up this forum...but it was mostly in just a couple threads that could have been avoided if someone wanted to just talk baseball. Also, "bashing" FBG happens at pretty much any sideboard where people from here congregate. Seemed to me that RDG never really got a chance to get off the ground once this place opened, but it seemed to be headed in the right direction.

JohnnyU is a toolface for reposting that stuff here IMO, but that is beside the point

What really interests me is someone of ChemX's background actually returning money, WHOA!

Hey, just pointing out that site was more interested in slamming fbgs than seriously trying to start a baseball forum. That's practically the only thread posted in for the first few weeks. You could count the posts on one hand in a "real" baseball thread.

:goodposting: So there was a thread where people vented frustrations about JB opening this forum on the heels of RD's launch. So what?

the thread he sited was on March 21st well past most of the drafts and stuff. Maybe there was some side stuff prior to that and I'm not gonna research it (lets let Johnny U do that since he wants to impress someone at FBG I guess. Maybe you'll have an extra mod job open where he can present the case of his loyalty and cowardly behavior to the staff for consideration) but that thread started after Joe was talking about this forum. What do people expect? Anyway as I said before, it's not this forum's fault that Rotodugout took a dive. It's Chemical X's for not providing content, not soliciting help, alienating his patrons, and going MIA for two months. A rudderless ship will eventually run to ground and this baseball forum is not exactly a juggernaut. Chemical X wanted FBG 2 which we all warned it would never be. It was a viable idea for hard core posters and something that with some hard work would have survived.

we had this same conversation four months ago...and I still can't see why you care this much.wilkt is right by the way, bad form for re-posting all that.

I don't care at all. Just countering Chem X claim there was no FBG bashing, and I think a contributor to why the site got off on the wrong foot. Hardly anyone cared about posting baseball info the first few weeks of the site. Most were consumed by that BS thread.

XLook at the start date genius. It was March 21st.
People don't discuss baseball in March?

By March 21st most of the drafts were already finished or in progress. There were many threads, thousands of baseball realted posts before that thread was ever even introduced. That would make your argument that

One thing I do know, and that is that there wasn't much baseball being discussed. I remember everything on the first page had just a few posts in them except the thread Good bye Rotodugout.com, We hardly knew ye. There was a few pinned team blog threads, but that's all I remember seeing.

You seem almost happy that Rotodugout is dying. What do you think this is accomplishing here?

Absolutely not. When I first heard about rotodugout I was eager to join. I did my part to initiate baseball discussion, but the site didn't take off like I hoped. I did get pissed at all the non-baseball discussion when I first joined. It did get better later, but if I had to guess, a lot of folks were put off by the lack of baseball talk and left the site for good. I just pointed out that one thread because it seemed to get a lot of attention, whereas baseball wasn't at that time. It's never a good thing for anyone wihen a forum like that doesn't make it.

I understand the site didn't take off as you hoped, but throwing it under the bus while other members try to keep it going doesn't accomplish anything.

Classy. Your attempts at humor are only satisfying one person: you. You're in the minority here.

I wasn't trying to be funny. I was under the impression that site was done. I just went over to check and only a couple of threads have recent posts, and chem x initial post indicated the site was done. I hope others join and make it work. That's always good for the hobby. The more info the better.

first off, i didnt realize johnny u was such a ####### tool......

that said, i hardly see where there was fbg bashing....seems like more of a discussion about fbg's attempt to suddenly start a baseball forum.

seems to me that many of you are passionate about the site. i agree with dr detroit in that the ship was rudderless, i did not have the time in my life to dedicate to the site when it most needed it. it was not cause i didnt care, rather my move from ny to nc, new job, etc. came at the same time (mid-late march) as the site launch.

i am willing to continue financial support of the site if guys like dr detroit want to run it. i will give dr detroit admin access and whatever else he feels he needs to make a go of it. all i ask is that he permaban johnny u's ip address and have a thread where we can bash johnny u.

No reason to get personal. I just stated that rotodugout was too busy throwing Joe Bryant under the bus rather than concerning itself with trying to start a baseball forum. If that's not the way you see it, that's ok. I know what I experienced after first joining that board, and it wasn't for me for the reasons already stated. I apologize if stating my opinion of the site was throwing it under the bus.Edited 7/13 - I deleted the RD posts that was only meant to counter Chem X claiim that RD didn't throw FBGs under the bus. Maybe I shouldn't have posted the few I did, so I apologize for that.

Just a couple of thoughts on the various posts

-- It was big of ChemX to provide and fund ( with other volunteered contributions) a forum for baseball. I did not get the impression he ever planned to have much content beyond the forums, make it a big commercial success, whatever.

-- It was unfortunate timing that this forum was added so soon after the launch; I doubt rotodugout would've been started with that knowledge.

--JohnnyU - you're certainly entitled to your opinion, too. :lmao:

Thanks for the refund - you seriously didn't have to do that. It was well worth the $10 for me.Sadly, I took that :wall: and applied it towards my FBG membership for this year :(Seems a touch ironic
